Youth Action for Haiti

It was inspired by acclaimed youth activist Paul Appolon Elysée.

Youth Action for Haiti was founded on a vision to support children and youth—providing them the opportunity to grow, follow the example of Jesus, and emerge as self-sufficient, spiritually mature leaders. Appolon pledged to spend his life helping youths mainly those who face daily realities of hunger and lack of basic needs such as food security, safe school and medical care.

When Appolon left Indianapolis to return to Haiti, one of his key priorities was to launch a local English program inspired by WELL (Westside English Language Learning) at Chapel Rock Christian Church.

He dreamed of creating MELL (Maliarette English Language Learning)—and today, that dream came true as Appolon and his wife, Rose-Canie, led the very first class! 🎉

Highlights from Day 1 in Appolon’s words:"I don’t have words to describe how exciting it was this morning. It was a wonderful start for everyone—the students really loved it. I praise the Lord and am so thankful to Marsha Greiner and Debbie Montgomery at WELL!"

We are so blessed with such rich, fertile land. Today, the oxen plowed another field—this one specially prepared for the Resilient Women's Association garden! We can't wait to see what they grow to nourish their families and use in their businesses. 🌱🐂✨

Hernandez just finished third grade and is stepping into fourth grade this September. After losing his mother when he was just three years old, navigating daily life has been a quiet, constant challenge—even securing a basic daily meal can be tough.

"I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep." John 10:11 (NIV)

Jesus is the Good Shepherd, the faithful shepherd who keeps His word every single day; He will never abandon his sheep when they are in danger. Jesus is the faithful guide—He always takes care of His sheep and protects them when they are facing betrayal or abandonment.

The Good Shepherd knows the names of His sheep, and the sheep know the Good Shepherd's name. It is a relationship of love and mutual trust. The Good Shepherd loves His sheep. He loves them completely and unconditionally. Because of the love He has for them, Jesus allowed Himself to be mistreated, to suffer, and even to die to save His sheep. When Christians call upon Him, He hears them and saves them from their enemies.

How our micro-loan cycle works:
1️⃣ $200 Seed: A local woman receives initial capital.

2️⃣ Small Business: She launches a shop (produce, clothing, essentials) & builds savings.

3️⃣ Repayment: She pays back the loan in small installments as her revenue grows.

4️⃣ Redeployment: Repaid funds immediately finance the next woman’s dream.

Today’s 5 recipients were funded directly by the hardworking women who came before them. Empowerment in action! 🙌

Gratitude is an essential attitude for everyone who puts their trust in God. A thankful heart is a clear sign of a joyful Christian—it helps us take our eyes off difficult times and focus instead on God’s goodness and faithfulness.

When we thank God for all things, it shows that we believe in His love and in His promise to care for us, no matter the situation.

Our gratitude to God removes fear, anxiety, and sadness, while reminding us of His blessings. A Christian who chooses to give thanks instead of complaining brings light and hope to those around them.

Our Resilient Women's Association meetings keep growing every month! 🌟

Drawing from Psalm 54, Appolon shared a message on God’s faithfulness and relying on Him to defend our cause. He encouraged the women to stay united, love one another, and build a legacy that blesses their families, their ministry, and the entire community.

Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are united with Jesus Christ. (Romans 8:1)

When someone accepts Jesus, they are born a second time, they become free, and they are no longer under the power of sin and death. They are no longer under judgment for the sins they have committed; on the contrary, they receive forgiveness for everything wrong they have done and gain a new identity.

When a person comes to Jesus, they must confess that Jesus is Lord and proclaim God's promises wherever they go and in all circumstances because they are an heir—an heir of God and a co-heir with Jesus.

If you come to Jesus, you will want to remain in God's presence, study His word so you can know His will, and serve Him better. Jesus forgives the sins of everyone who puts their trust in Him. The only thing you need to do is obey and believe in Him.
