Reimagine Haiti

Reimagine Haiti's vision is to work in community with the people that we serve, by: seeking out what they believe they need, not what we believe they may need; being respectful of their culture, their abilities and their knowledge; and recognizing their ability to make changes on their own. We will work in a way that will produce long-lasting, sustainable changes by addressing and treating the roo

t causes of problems, not simply the symptoms. Most importantly, we will develop working and living relationships with the people of the community, acknowledging that we have just as much to learn from them as they have to learn from us. Statement of Faith:

Reimagine Haiti was founded on and operates under the following Christian values. We believe:

- That there is no greater gift and no higher calling than love.
- That love should be freely given.
- That our lives, rather than our words, are our most powerful testimony.
- That we serve God by serving each other.
- That on some level, we are all “the least of these”. And yet,
- That our value is not dictated by our color, age, gender, past, any orientation or status, but by the unwavering, unsurpassable and non-discriminating love of Jesus. Purpose Statement:

Reimagine Haiti exists with the dream to be a catalyst in the pursuit to one day eradicate poverty and improve the quality of life for the people of Haiti. Being the poorest nation in the western hemisphere, Haiti experiences thousands of preventable deaths each year due to the various and devastating effects of her poverty. Reimagine Haiti is dedicated to working with the people of Haiti to address the issues resulting from undeveloped agricultural, environmental and infrastructural practices. As a community development organization, we strive to serve by coming along side community leaders, working in collaboration with local officials and listening to the local people. In this way we can help them as they obtain the tools and resources to effectively initiate changes that will create a better future for generations to come. As an advocacy organization, we strive to advocate for the people that we serve in Haiti by accurately representing their needs, desires and lives to more developed societies. We aim to breakdown stereotypes that continue to hurt the developing world, rather than advance it. By representing impoverished communities in a truthful, respectful and empowering way, we not only help them, we open the eyes of future generations to inspire global change in an effective and positive way. Reimagine Haiti is a non-profit corporation and shall be operated exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including, for such purposes, the making of distributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

Informations générales

Working amongst the Belle Anse community to overcome various infrastructure, water, healthcare, malnutrition, commerce and educational challenges! Mailing address: PO Box 1336 Minnetonka, MN 55345-0336 Reimagine Haiti is a community development organization, which has been intentionally created to be unique and innovative among non-profits. The co-founders’ fundamental strategy has been to thoughtfully craft an organization that will set a new standard in humanitarian aid work, not only to establish an improved model of revitalization for the rest of Haiti to consider, but to also be a beacon of light across the globe. The concept, as applied, will push Reimagine Haiti and the people we serve beyond simply community development and into the realm of community advancement. Reimagine Haiti makes its home in the small fishing village of Belle Anse in the South East Department of Haiti. Our organization operates within the larger region of the Belle Anse District, including its seven communal sections. The district is approximately 147 sq. mi. (381 sq. km.) of mostly rugged, mountainous terrain on the southern coast that overlooks the Caribbean Sea. This is one of the most remote and inaccessible parts of Haiti. Few outsiders have ever visited the area, and no organization (prior to Reimagine Haiti's arrival) has ever had a permanent missionary staff in place there. Just over 70,000 residents are scattered over the seven communal sections of the Belle Anse District. The center of the Belle Anse village is just 28 miles southeast of Port-au-Prince. And yet, despite this proximity to the capital city, Belle Anse is often regarded as one of the most remote places in Haiti. A 2009 statement from the United Nations proclaimed Belle Anse as the poorest region in all of Haiti. The daunting topography of the harshest, most imposing mountains surrounded by some of the The Belle Anse Region is in the West Indies, including the Massif de la Selle (The Rugged Range). makes travel to the region difficult (the recommended route of travel there today can be a day-long venture that concludes with a two-hour boat ride from a nearby town), and has kept the area segregated from the rest of the country since before Haiti gained independence in 1804
