🌱 2nd ReBORN Workshop was held in Zagreb: Bio-Based Materials in Construction
On April 27th the 2nd ReBORN Workshop, “Bio-Based Materials in Construction,” was held in Zagreb, Croatia, bringing together construction experts, architects and sustainability-focused professionals. The workshop explored how innovative and natural materials can support the future of modern construction, especially in the context of Croatian and European energy-performance requirements.
Participants discussed the potential of:
🌿 Hempcrete as a bio-composite insulation material with excellent moisture regulation and a negative carbon footprint
🌾 Reed as a traditional yet highly relevant solution for sustainable insulation, facades and roofing systems
🌲 CLT – Cross Laminated Timber as a sustainable alternative to concrete and steel, offering fast assembly and long-term carbon storage
Through expert presentations, discussion sessions, and practical examples, the workshop highlighted how bio-based materials can contribute to healthier, more energy-efficient, and climate-resilient buildings.
A big thank you to all lecturers, participants, and partners who contributed to an inspiring exchange of knowledge and ideas in Zagreb.

🗓This week from 9th to 11th of June, our team member Ana Glavina attended the 9th and final Aza4ice project and steering comitee meeting in Oristano, Italy.

ℹ️Over two days, project partners gathered to reflect on the work carried out, discuss final project activities, and bring the AZA4ICE project to a close.

ℹ️On the third day, partners visited the Cabras Lagoon pilot site, where they had the opportunity to explore the local ecosystem, learn more about the area’s aquaculture and environmental context and connect project discussions with real field experience.

🤝A big thank you to all project partners for their cooperation throughout the project and for the inspiring final meeting in Sardinia.

ℹ️This week our team, led by Dr. Vlatka Vaniček, participated in the consortium meeting of the project SWIM, organised in 🇨🇿.

ℹ️The SWIM project ( , ) actively works on solutions for the improvement of migratory 🐟 habitats in Europe.

🤝The consortium meeting brought together 42 project partners from 14 European countries.

🔘The goal of the meeting was to review and disuss the project activities and achievements by pilot and referent sites and to plan upcomming ativities.

✅️AIH coordinates activities for solution replication and scaling up, as well as the establishment of whose aim is to bring together experts and stakeholders for strategic and long-term planning of activities for migratory 🐟 habitat improvement.

✅️Moreover, together with Centar kompetencija, INOVA+, FZI Forschungszentrum Informatik, AIH seeks possibilities for synergy between and from other projects.

📣Representatives of Adria Innovation Harbour participated on April 15 at the Economic Fair of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton, where they actively contributed to the panel discussion and the exchange of knowledge among participants.

🔘The aim of the participation was to create conditions for strengthening knowledge and competencies through examples of good practice, as well as to encourage the active role of the community in fostering innovation and collaboration.

ℹ️At the forum, our projects: DAnube WETlands RESToration , SWIM, and Danser were presented as examples of successful initiatives contributing to sustainable development and international cooperation.

🤝Coordinated implementation for quality project results📈📊

🗓 On 10th of April 2026 our team member Mislav Šagovac participated in the technical meeting, organised within the project SWIM 🐟🐟🐟, by the Ministry of Transport, Connection, and Environment Protection from Posavina Canton, 🇧🇦, in coordination with Fakultet strojarstva i brodogradnje - FSB.

The meeting was organised to discuss:

➡️implementation plan and specific needs and challenges, and risks of each referent site;

➡️Coordinated approach in data collection from the field observation and their integration into the portal.

After the technical part of the meeting, the participants had the opportunity to visit Staraca pond, one of the referent sites in the joint pilot located in 🇧🇦 and 🇭🇷.

We use this opportunity to congratulate to Minister Pero Radić and his team for well organised event.
