Prvi smo tjedan akademske godine našim brucošima održali uvodno predavanje. Predstavili smo im ustroj fakulteta, rad različitih sekcija, studentskoga zbora te naše udruge.

Nakon predavanja dobili su kontakt za svoje student-mentore koji će ih nastaviti informirati i pomagati na studiju medicine.

Svim brucošima želimo puno sreće na prvoj godini i ostatku studija!

On August 18th and 19th, our incoming students had the opportunity to visit IMC Priora and take part in a clinical practice experience.
During their visit, they explored the departments of Plastic, Reconstructive, Aesthetic Surgery and Hand Surgery, Urology, Urological Oncology and Robotic Surgery, Orthopaedics, as well as the laboratory. They expanded their knowledge, discovered different fields of medicine, and gained valuable insight into the everyday work of healthcare professionals and the use of modern diagnostic methods and advanced medical technologies, including the da Vinci robotic surgical system.
We are grateful for the knowledge and experiences shared with us and look forward to future opportunities for collaboration!

On August 17th, we gathered at the student dorm for our National Food & Drink Party! Incoming students from Estonia, Portugal, Spain, the Czech Republic and Turkey shared food, drinks and little pieces of their cultures. It was a wonderful evening of cultural exchange, connecting with one another and discovering the world through its flavours.

As part of our workshop series, a hands-on workshop in collaboration with and Oftalmos - Hospital de Olhos was successfully held. The workshop combined two practical sessions, focusing on surgical suturing and basic ophthalmological examination.

The surgical suturing session was led by Ivan Sladoja, President of the Surgical Students’ Section, who introduced students to basic suturing techniques and gave them the opportunity to practice their skills. The ophthalmology session was led by Ena Kolak, MD, President of the Ophthalmology Students’ Section, who introduced participants to the basics of eye examination and common ophthalmological findings.

Through a combination of theory and hands-on practice, students had the opportunity to gain valuable practical knowledge and develop skills useful for their future clinical practice. 🩺👁️🪡

The Advanced Life Support workshop was conducted by Hrvoje Vinković, MD, specialist in anesthesiology, for the incoming students in august. During the workshop, students were introduced to the principles of advanced life support and had the opportunity to practice essential resuscitation techniques and emergency procedures. The hands-on workshop provided valuable practical experience and helped students build confidence in managing life-threatening situations. 🫀🚑❤️‍🩹

The second workshop and final activity planned for July was successfully held in collaboration with Studentska sekcija za anesteziologiju Osijek and Sekcija za internu medicinu - InternEdu . The workshop focused on the auscultation of heart sounds and murmurs and was led by Jerko Arambašić, MD, Cardiologist.
Students were introduced to the theory behind normal and pathological heart sounds and murmurs. They learned about the most important pathophysiological mechanisms encountered in everyday clinical practice.
The workshop was successfully completed and received positive feedback from the participants, who had the opportunity to gain useful practical knowledge and skills.

The Welcome Party in August was held at Bašcha where incoming students and members of the SCOPE and SCORE committees had the opportunity to meet and get to know each other. The event included a w**e-and-paint activity, providing a relaxed and creative setting for participants to socialize and connect. The evening was spent enjoying the activity together and creating a welcoming atmosphere for the incoming students.

The National Food and Drink Day was held on July 21st at the student dormitory. Incoming students, several outgoing students, and members of the SCOPE and SCORE committees brought food and drinks that are typical of their countries. We tasted food from Denmark, Estonia, Spain and Croatia while socializing and chatting together.

The trip to Vukovar and Ilok took place on July 18th and was led by one of the outgoing students. The students learned about the history of Vukovar and visited the Vukovar Water Tower and the Vučedol Culture Museum.
Afterwards, they visited the walls of Ilok and the Museum of the City of Ilok. They then headed to Principovac Castle, where they enjoyed the architecture and beauty of the castle.
After the visit, they had lunch at the Old Cellar, followed by a w**e tasting at the same location, which marked the end of the trip.
