Island Extravganza

Island Extravganza The Island Extravaganza is ESC project supported by Erasmus+ through Agency for mobility and EU programmes.

The idea for this project came from the Argonauta association´s rich experience in implementing volunteer programs as well as an extension of the successful promoting of knowledge and raising awareness about the values of cultural/archaeological heritage as common European value and its potential in terms of sustainable development of rural communities. The objective of the ISLAND EXTRAVAGANZA 202

2 project is to continue raising the awareness and the interest of the public for the necessity of local cultural resources: archaeological site of Colentum, natural site Raduč Hill and Gradina peninsula conservation and valorization. Another important part of this project will be to make the voluntary work and benefits adjusted to local community needs and connect local and international youth volunteers to learn from each other about different benefits and opportunities of volunteerism and ESC Programme.

Yesterday, the five volunteers of our project "Island Extravaganza 2025" and our two long-term ESC volunteers organized an exciting scavenger hunt through the archaeological site of Colentum for the children of the middle school in Murter. They brought to life the story of a Roman city, complete with various inhabitants and historical figures, whom the kids met along the way. At several creative and playful stations, the children completed fun tasks and faced exciting challenges, all designed to immerse them in the rich history of Colentum. Their journey ended in the finale, where they had to find the final treasure, guarded by pirates. In a relaxed and informal setting, the children learned a great deal about the history and archaeology of Colentum, gaining new insights into its past inhabitants, culture, and significance. It wasn't only educational but also fostered teamwork, curiosity, and a deeper connection to their local heritage, making history come alive.

Jučer je pet volontera našeg projekta "ISLAND EXTRAVAGANZA 2025" zajedno s dvije dugoročne ESC volonterke organiziralo uzbudljivu potragu za blagom! Sve se to događalo na arheološkom nalazištu Colentum, a bilo je namijenjeno za prvaše osnovne škole "Murterski škoji" iz Murtera. Oživjeli su priču o rimskom gradu, s raznim stanovnicima i povijesnim likovima koje su djeca upoznala usput.
Na pet kreativnih stanica, djeca su rješavala zabavne zadatke i suočavala se s uzbudljivim izazovima, sve s ciljem da ih urone u bogatu povijest Colentuma. Njihovo putovanje završilo je kada su pronašli blago, čuvano od strane gusara.
U opuštenoj i neformalnoj atmosferi, djeca su naučila mnogo o povijesti Colentuma, ali i dobila uvide u njegove prošle stanovnike, kulturu i značaj. Aktivnosti su poticale timski rad, znatiželju i dublju povezanost s njihovim lokalnim naslijeđem, čineći povijest živom i zanimljivom.

Yesterday morning, our five volunteers from the project "Island Extravaganza 2025" continued their work at the archaeological site of Colentum. After removing weeds from the paths, they are shining in new cleanliness and vitality, ready to welcome visitors and preserve the site's historical significance.

Yesterday, the volunteering team of the project "Island Extravaganza 2025" and Argonauta members participated in a planting action of our partner project "Zavrtimo krug promjena IV". In the garden of the Catholic School in Šibenik, we planted three beautiful new trees, and other plants were planted by the kids of the school. It was inspiring to see their enthusiasm and fun while gardening and painting the pots. The day was filled with positive energy, teamwork, and a shared commitment to creating a greener future. We hope these new additions will thrive and symbolize our collaboration and dedication to sustainable change.

Jučer je volonterski tim projekta "Island Extravaganza 2025" zajedno s članovima Argonaute sudjelovao u akciji sadnje! O čemu se radi?
U dvorištu Katoličke škole u Šibeniku posadili smo tri prekrasna nova stabla, a djeca škole zasadila su i druge biljke. Bilo je inspirativno vidjeti njihov entuzijazam i zabavu dok su sadili i bojali svoje male projekte :) Dan je bio ispunjen pozitivnom energijom, timskim radom i zajedničkom predanošću stvaranju zelenije budućnosti. Nadamo se da će ove biljke uspjeti i postati simbol naše suradnje i predanosti održivim promjenama.
Ova akcija dio je projekta Zavrtimo krug promjena na kojem je udruga Argonauta partner.

The previous day of the "Island Extravaganza 2025" project, the volunteers spent a few hours working at the archaeological site of Colentum. Afterwards, the five volunteers headed to Jedro to participate in a workshop about the Youthpass, which they will receive at the end of their ESC volunteering. During the session, we explored how to accurately fill out the various competences the pass will include. The workshop also creatively demonstrated how these skills and competencies are developed and why they are important and valuable for our future journeys.

Jučerašnji dan volonteri su proveli nekoliko sati radeći na arheološkom nalazištu Colentum, a nakon toga uputili su se u Društveni centar Jedro kako bi sudjelovali na radionici o Youthpassu, koji će dobiti na kraju svog ESC volontiranja. Tijekom radionice istražili su kako točno ispuniti različite kompetencije koje će Youthpass sadržavati. Također, na kreativan način uvidjeli su kako se te vještine i kompetencije razvijaju i zašto su važne i vrijedne za naša buduća "putovanja"!

Yesterday, our dear volunteers from the "Island Extravaganza 2025" project once again showed their commitment and enthusiasm by continuing their efforts at the archaeological site of Colentum. With great patience and care, they cleaned the Volunteer Monument, ensuring it remains a fitting tribute to those who have contributed to our community. In addition, they took the time to tidy up and refresh several benches around the site, making the area more welcoming and comfortable for visitors and future explorers alike.
Their hard work not only helps preserve the historical significance of Colentum but also enhances the overall beauty and accessibility of this special place. We thank each volunteer for their dedication and for helping to create a more enjoyable and inspiring environment for everyone. Your efforts truly make a difference, and we look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together in the days to come!

Jučer su naši dragi volonteri iz projekta "Island Extravaganza 2025" ponovno pokazali svoju predanost i entuzijazam nastavivši s radovima na arheološkom nalazištu Colentum. S velikom strpljivošću i pažnjom očistili su Spomenik volonterima, osiguravajući da ostane lijep podsjetnik na one koji su doprinijeli našoj zajednici. Osim toga, osvježili su nekoliko klupa oko nalazišta kako bi Colentum učinili gostoljubivijim i udobnijim za posjetitelje i buduće istraživače.
Njihov trud ne samo da pomaže očuvati povijesni značaj Colentuma, već i doprinosi ukupnoj ljepoti i dostupnosti ovog posebnog mjesta. This morning, our dedicated group of volunteers from the "Island Extravaganza 2025" project, along with the Argonauta team, woke up early to start an important cleaning initiative. At our meeting point in Tisno, our local guide Željko took a moment to share some fascinating insights into the island's rich history and outlined the plan for the hours ahead, inspiring us all to do our best.
With enthusiasm, we then made our way along the scenic beach, collecting all kinds of trash from the ground and the surrounding natural environment. As we worked, we encountered a surprising array of trash—everything from old shoes and a toilet brush to a discarded car battery 🤮—highlighting the importance of our efforts. Despite the challenging finds, we remained motivated and focused on making a real difference.
After filling numerous bags with rubbish, we proudly arrived in Betina, knowing we had contributed to preserving the beauty of this special place. It was a rewarding start to what we hope will be an ongoing movement to keep our environment clean and healthy.

Danas,13. svibnja, naša predana grupa volontera iz projekta "Island Extravaganza 2025" zajedno s timom Argonauta, ustala je rano kako bi započela važnu inicijativu čišćenja. Na mostu u Tisnom, odakle smo krenuli, naš lokalni vodič Željko podijelio je s nama fascinantne uvide u bogatu povijest otoka i izložio plan za nadolazeće sate, nadahnjujući da damo svoj maksimum!
S entuzijazmom smo krenuli duž plaže, prikupljajući razne vrste otpada. Sakupljajući, naišli smo na razne vrste smeća—od starih cipela i četke za WC do odbačene automobilne baterije 🤮—to je i istaknulo važnost naših napora. Unatoč izazovnim otkrićima, ostali smo motivirani i usmjereni na to da napravimo stvarnu razliku.
Nakon što smo napunili brojne vreće smeća, s ponosom smo stigli u Betinu, znajući da smo pridonijeli očuvanju ljepote ovog posebnog mjesta. Ovo je samo jedna od akcija u nizu hvalevrijednog projekta

Još jednom zahvaljujemo komunalnom poduzeću "Ježinac" iz Tisnog što su bili podrška i ovaj put te nam omogućili potreban materijal za akciju te uslugu odvoza smeća.

This morning, our volunteers from the project Island Extravaganza 2025 began the day by reflecting on their first week of volunteering on the island. They shared their experiences, feelings, and key learning outcomes with one another, while also mapping out goals for the week ahead.
Following the reflection, each volunteer presented their home country, giving us the opportunity to gain insights into the cultures, traditions, and histories of France, Latvia, Portugal, Belgium, and Italy. After engaging presentations, some fun challenges and quizzes, we enjoyed tasting traditional foods from their countries, which everyone found delightful!
It was a wonderful morning filled with intercultural exchange, fostering mutual understanding and new connections.

Pozivamo vas da nam se pridružite sutra, 13.5.2025., na eko šetnji zajedno s našim međunarodnim volonterima.

Ideja je da se na potezu Tisno - Piltka vala - Betina prikuplja otpad, a usput da se uči o kulturnim i svim ostalim znamenitostima ovog dijela otoka Murtera s čime će nas upoznati lokalni licencirani vodič Željko Čorkalo.

Pridružite nam se sutra u jutarnjim satima i zajedno s nama ostavite čišći otok Murter iza sebe. 🟢🍀🍃🌳

Počinjemo u 9:00 h s mosta u Tisnom!

On today's excursion, the volunteers of the project Island Extravaganza 2025 had the pleasure of visiting two historic and culturally significant sites on the island of Murter. Their first stop was at Saint Michael’s Church, known locally as Crkva sv. Mihovila, where they learned about the rich history and traditions. Following this, they continued their cultural exploration with a visit to the Church of St. Roch, or Crkva sv. Roka.
After, the volunteers took some time to get acquainted with the fascinating history of Murter itself, discovering its unique stories and heritage that have shaped the island over the years. Once their cultural journey was complete, they headed towards Raduč, Otok Murter. There, they went on an adventurous walk through the underground tunnels carved deep into the hill and enjoyed the view on the other side.
The day’s exploration concluded at the beach of Slanica, where the volunteers took a refreshing bath.

This morning, our volunteers of the Island Extravaganza Project 2025 attended two different workshops.
In the first workshop, one of the volunteers taught the others how to crochet, allowing everyone to express their creativity. Then, their local mentor tasked them with recording and editing a stop-motion film using LEGO bricks. The results were amazing and will be posted soon!
Finally, it was time for reflection, and the group shared their favorite creative activity, their individual learning outcomes, and their feelings.
