24 May – European Day of Parks 🌍🌿

Yesterday we celebrated the parks and protected areas that keep nature connected and alive. From forests and rivers to wildlife corridors and local communities, everything in nature is linked together.
Under this year’s theme “Connected by Nature”, we are reminded that protecting nature means protecting these vital connections.
Croatia is fortunate to have 8 beautiful national parks that reflect the country’s extraordinary natural richness and biodiversity. 💚

12 May – National Day of Persons with Physical Disabilities 💙

Today, Croatia is marking this day for the first time, with the goal of raising awareness about the importance of support, inclusion, equal opportunities, and respect for people with physical disabilities.

This day is also a reminder that everyone deserves to feel accepted, valued, and included in the community.

As volunteers of Ekološka udruga Krka Knin, we were proud to support "Udruga osoba s invalititetom Sveti Bartolomej" at this important event and stand together in promoting kindness, understanding, and equality for all. 🤝

Održan Europski tjedan mladih 2026. – u duhu zajedništva, učenja i novih prilika!
U sklopu obilježavanja European Youth Week, volonteri ESC projekta „NEDS“ 7. svibnja 2026. godine proveli su interaktivni kviz te kroz vlastita iskustva i korisne informacije predstavili sudionicima različite mogućnosti koje European Union nudi mladima.
Sudionici su imali priliku saznati kako napraviti prvi korak prema međunarodnim iskustvima, razvijati svoje vještine te iskoristiti programe i prilike koje mogu doprinijeti osobnom i profesionalnom razvoju.
Dana 8. svibnja, u suradnji sa Srednja škola Lovre Montija, održana je edukativna aktivnost „Escape: Ekološka misija“ s ciljem poticanja mladih na promišljanje o ekološkim izazovima današnjice te osnaživanja za aktivno sudjelovanje u izgradnji održivije budućnosti.
Kroz interaktivni escape room učenici su kroz timski rad rješavali zagonetke povezane sa zaštitom okoliša, održivim razvojem, vodom, energijom, otpadom, klimatskim promjenama i ciljevima održivog razvoja.
Aktivnost je na kreativan, dinamičan i angažiran način približila mladima važnost europskih zelenih politika i održivog razvoja. Kroz suradnju, komunikaciju i praktično rješavanje zadataka sudionici su razvijali kritičko mišljenje, timski duh i svijest o važnosti očuvanja okoliša.
💚 Hvala svim na sudjelovanju i što su doprinijeli uspješnoj provedbi aktivnosti. Zajedno gradimo aktivniju, održiviju i povezaniju zajednicu!

Yesterday, we had an activity in the high school "Lovre Montija"for "Medijska Pismenost" or Media Literacy Week. We first had a presentation to teach students about the different types of media they are exposed to and how they can identify the intention and messages of media such as advertising, social media content and posters.

Then, we had a creative workshop in which students, in groups, had to create their own media in the form of a poster to raise awareness about abandoned animals and responsible pet ownership, and how we ourselves can contribute through volunteering.

We would like to sincerely thank the school and the students for their active participation during the workshop. We are happy to continue working with them and to develop future sessions together.

Last week we had a workshop at Veleučilište "Marko Marulić" (Polytechnic Knin) explaining to students the value of volunteering with an interactive activity on how to help and solve issues in the community. We also gave them information on how they can pursue volunteering opportunities and the benefits of volunteering, whether an increased sense of purpose, a way to develop skills, contribute to the community or meet new people and improve their employability.

We thank the students who assisted in the session and the kind staff of the university. We are happy to continue working with them and to develop future sessions together.

🌍 CROATIA VOLUNTEERS 2026

This year’s 16th national campaign is being carried out as part of marking the International Year of Volunteers for Sustainable Development 2026, with a focus on contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ♻️

🤝 The campaign theme is “Volunteering as the Strength of a Sustainable Community,” with the slogan “The Strength that Connects,” and the message conveyed through the campaign is

📆 The campaign will take place from May 21 to May 23, 2026.
Volunteer organizers can register their activities through the online platform Volonteka no later than May 20, 2026.

All registered activities will be compiled and made available to citizens across Croatia, who will have the opportunity to join actions based on their interests and in this way contribute to positive change. 💚

We invite all citizens and organizations to join and, through their actions, contribute to creating a more sustainable future. 🌱
