Halfway through the school year means it's time to check in with our local schools! We do this regularly to make sure our sponsored students are staying on track and that no one is falling behind or abandoning their education.

This week, we've also been meeting with school administrators to discuss improvement projects their schools need most. We're excited to have a missions team joining us this November, using their time, resources, and hard work to help complete projects that will bless these underfunded—but incredibly dedicated—schools and benefit the entire community. ❤️

A mitad del año escolar, es momento de visitar nuestras escuelas locales!Realizamos estas visitas periódicamente para asegurarnos de que nuestros estudiantes patrocinados sigan avanzando en sus estudios y que ninguno se esté quedando atrás o abandonando su educación.

Esta semana también nos hemos reunido con directores y personal de las escuelas para conversar sobre los proyectos de mejora que más necesitan. Estamos muy emocionados de recibir un equipo misionero este mes de noviembre, que traerá su tiempo, recursos y esfuerzo para ayudar a llevar a cabo proyectos que bendecirán a estas escuelas con recursos limitados, pero llenas de dedicación, y que beneficiarán a toda la comunidad. ❤️

The last of our mid-year field trips was for a very special group—our 6th grade graduates and the Suntule class!

Moving from 6th grade into 7th grade (high school) is a big milestone, so we wanted to celebrate with a day at the movie theater. For almost all of the students, it was their very first time seeing a movie in a theater, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone.

We're so proud of these students and can't wait to see all they'll accomplish in this next chapter!

¡La última de nuestras excursiones de mitad de año fue para un grupo muy especial: nuestros estudiantes que se graduaron de 6to grado y la clase de Suntule!

Pasar de 6to a 7mo grado (secundaria) es un gran logro, así que quisimos celebrarlo con un día en el cine. Para casi todos los niños, ¡era la primera vez que veían una película en una sala de cine, haciendo de este un día muy especial e inolvidable para todos!

Estamos muy orgullosos de ellos y emocionados por todo lo que les espera en esta nueva etapa.

When Future of Hope began sponsoring children more than 10 years ago, Aracely and her family were among the very first families to join the program. Although her children are now grown, we have remained close over the years.

Recently, Aracely was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. She has already undergone surgery and is now awaiting radioactive iodine treatment. This journey is especially close to my heart because I went through the same diagnosis and treatment just a few years ago, so I know firsthand how overwhelming—both emotionally and financially—it can be.

In Honduras, where many people earn around $300 per month, the cost of her treatment is simply out of reach. Her radioactive iodine treatment will cost approximately $3,500.

Future of Hope will be making a small personal donation to support Aracely and her family, but we also wanted to share her need in case anyone feels led to help.

(Please note: Donations for Aracely are not being received through Future of Hope and are not tax-deductible charitable donations. Every dollar given will go directly to Aracely to help cover the cost of her treatment.)

Cuando Future of Hope comenzó a patrocinar niños hace más de 10 años, Aracely y su familia formaban parte del primer grupo de familias. Aunque sus hijos ya son adultos, hemos mantenido una amistad muy cercana con ella a lo largo de los años.

Hace poco, Aracely fue diagnosticada con cáncer de tiroides. Ya fue sometida a una cirugía y ahora está esperando recibir su tratamiento con yodo radiactivo. Esta situación toca muy de cerca mi corazón, ya que yo pasé por el mismo diagnóstico y tratamiento hace apenas unos años, y sé lo difícil que puede ser tanto emocional como económicamente.

En un país donde muchas personas ganan alrededor de $300 al mes, el costo de este tratamiento está fuera de su alcance. El tratamiento con yodo radiactivo tiene un costo aproximado de $3,500.

Como ministerio, haremos una pequeña contribución para apoyar a Aracely y a su familia, pero también queremos compartir esta necesidad por si alguien desea ayudar.

(Es importante aclarar que: estas donaciones no se están recibiendo a través de Future of Hope y no son donaciones deducibles de impuestos. Todo el dinero recibido será entregado directamente a Aracely para cubrir los gastos de su tratamiento.)

While the kids are on break this week for Student's Week, we filled our week with home visits—building stronger connections with the students we sponsor and their families, celebrating the victories, and working together through the difficult moments.

Mientras los niños disfrutan de sus descanso por la Semana del Estudiante, llenamos nuestra semana con visitas a los hogares, fortaleciendo nuestras relaciones con los estudiantes que patrocinamos y con sus familias, celebrando las victorias y trabajando juntos en los momentos difíciles.

We’re moving (again)!

A few months ago, we shared that we were opening an additional class in a more “neutral” part of the community, where kids from all sectors can safely get to class without crossing gang borders.

We opened this class in response to overwhelming requests from local public school teachers, who shared that many of their students needed this extra support. For the past couple of months, we’ve been meeting on the patio of a local teacher’s home. Now, we’ve been offered space in a community center that’s currently unused and was previously used by USAID programs.
We’re grateful for the opportunity to continue serving this community wherever we’re able!

¡Nos volvemos a mudar!

Durante los últimos meses hemos estado impartiendo clases en el patio de la casa de una maestra de la comunidad. Ahora, nos han ofrecido un espacio en un centro comunitario que actualmente no está en uso y que anteriormente fue utilizado por programas de USAID.

Estamos muy agradecidos por la oportunidad de seguir sirviendo a esta comunidad donde sea que podamos hacerlo.
