We are a medical charity that sends surgical teams to underserved nations around the world to deliver surgeries and change lives. By fixing disabling and chronic conditions, GSE helps get people back to work and family responsibilities. In doing so, we make a more significant impact on global poverty.

Today marks our final day in the operating room, and what an incredible week it has been.😀

Over the past four days, our team has worked alongside local healthcare providers to perform life-changing urology and urogynecology procedures, share knowledge, and strengthen partnerships that will continue long after we return home.

While the surgeries are an important part of our mission, the relationships built throughout the week are just as meaningful. Every case completed, every lesson learned, and every patient cared for reflects the power of collaboration to improve access to specialized surgical care.💙

As we close out our final OR day, we're filled with gratitude—for our volunteers who generously gave their time and expertise, for our local partners who welcomed us as colleagues, and for the patients who trusted us with their care.🤩

The work doesn't end when the operating room lights turn off. The impact of this week will continue through ongoing education, strengthened local capacity, and the partnerships that help make sustainable surgical care possible.🏥

Three days. Countless lives impacted. One shared mission.✨

As we wrap up Day 3 in the operating room, we're reflecting on what makes these surgical trips so meaningful: collaboration.🤝

Our team of surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, surgical technologists, physical therapists, and local healthcare professionals is working together to provide specialized urology and urogynecology care that may otherwise be difficult for patients to access.

From treating pelvic floor disorders to addressing complex urologic conditions, each procedure represents more than a surgery—it represents renewed hope, improved quality of life, and a stronger healthcare system through shared learning and partnership.🏥

While patients are at the center of everything we do, the knowledge exchange happening inside and outside the OR helps create an impact that extends far beyond this week.😀

Day 2 in the OR is underway, and the impact is already being felt.😁

From complex urology and urogynecology procedures to hands-on training and education, our team is working side by side with local healthcare providers to expand access to specialized surgical care.🏥

This morning, Dr. Kocher made rounds with patients recovering from surgery, checking on their progress and ensuring they have the support they need throughout their recovery journey.🌈

One of the highlights of this trip has been the integration of our physical therapy team. In addition to supporting patients, they are providing follow-up training and education focused on pelvic floor health—helping build local knowledge and strengthen long-term patient care beyond the operating room.

Every surgery, every lesson shared, and every partnership strengthened helps create a lasting impact for the communities we serve.💙

The first day in the OR is in the books! 💙🇧🇿

From the moment the first patient arrived until the last case was completed, it was a busy and rewarding day for the GSE team.✨

Every successful surgery is a team effort. Surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, surgical techs, physical therapists, and support staff each play an important role in providing safe, compassionate care. Every person in the operating room has a purpose, and every role matters.

What drives us is our patients. Many have lived with pain, discomfort, or conditions that have impacted their daily lives for years. Today, we had the privilege of helping change that. Whether it's returning to work, caring for family, participating in community activities, or simply living with less pain, these procedures can make a meaningful difference.🤍

We're honored by the trust our patients place in us and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside our Belizean partners to provide care that helps people get back to living their lives.

Day one was busy. The week ahead will be even busier, and we couldn't be more excited to continue this important work.

A special spotlight on our pelvic floor physical therapy team! 💙🇧🇿

While surgeries are a major part of our work in Belize, another important piece of sustainable care is education and training.

Our pelvic floor physical therapists are working side by side with Belizean medical officers, providing hands-on training so they can continue educating, treating, and following up with patients experiencing pelvic floor disorders long after our team returns home.

In addition to training local providers, the PT team is seeing patients, conducting evaluations, and helping individuals access specialized care that might otherwise be unavailable.

We're already seeing the incredible impact of combining surgical care, physical therapy, and local provider education. By building knowledge and strengthening partnerships, we're helping create lasting benefits for patients throughout Belize.

This is what sustainable healthcare looks like. 🌎✨

What a day in clinic!🏥 💙

The GSE team spent the day meeting patients and preparing for a busy week ahead. Between our urology, urogynecology, and pelvic floor physical therapy teams, we saw an incredible 101 patients during clinic day.🤩

Patients met with our surgeons to discuss their conditions and treatment options, while many also received evaluations and care from our pelvic floor physical therapy team. Every consultation helped us build a surgical schedule focused on meeting the greatest needs throughout the week.

The operating rooms will be busy in the days ahead, and we're grateful for the opportunity to partner with local healthcare providers to expand access to specialized care for patients across Belize.🇧🇿

The GSE team has officially arrived in Belize! ✈️🇧🇿

This year, our team is bigger than ever, bringing together dedicated professionals in urology, urogynecology, and pelvic floor physical therapy who are ready to serve, learn, and make an impact alongside our Belizean partners.💙

After a day of travel, we're excited to get started. Tomorrow marks the beginning of clinic, where we'll meet with patients, evaluate their needs, and develop our surgical schedule for the week ahead.🏥

We’re grateful for the opportunity to be back in Belize and look forward to sharing updates from the days ahead as we work together to expand access to specialized surgical care.🌍

Many women silently live with pelvic floor issues, bladder leakage, and other conditions that impact their daily lives — often without access to care or treatment.😮‍💨 This May, Global Surgical Expedition’s pelvic health team will travel to Belize to provide a 3-day pelvic health clinic in Corozal while continuing hands-on training for local healthcare providers.🇧🇿

Through education, exercises, screenings, and conservative interventions, this work helps women improve their pelvic health and can even prevent the need for surgery altogether.🩷

Surgery doesn't start when the patient enters the operating room—and it doesn't end when the last stitch is placed. It only happens because the supplies are there in the first place. Global Surgical Expedition relies on donated support to bring sutures, medications, and surgical instruments to every trip. They're the basics that make safe surgery possible.
