We are a medical charity that sends surgical teams to underserved nations around the world to deliver surgeries and change lives. By fixing disabling and chronic conditions, GSE helps get people back to work and family responsibilities. In doing so, we make a more significant impact on global poverty.

Volunteer Spotlight💡 : Taryn Hallam. As a registered physiotherapist with a special focus on women’s health and pelvic floor dysfunction, Taryn is passionate about helping women access the quality care they deserve.🩷 Her work specializes in supporting women with complex pelvic floor dysfunction, including pelvic organ prolapse, incontinence, and chronic pelvic pain. Driven by her passion to make quality care more accessible to women, Taryn splits her time between clinical care and teaching—sharing her knowledge while continuing to support patients on their healing journeys.📙 This year, Taryn joined GSE on her first trip to Belize! 🇧🇿 From guiding patients through recovery to providing education, encouragement, and hands-on support, our PT volunteers helped patients regain confidence and take important steps toward healing.✨ Thank you, Taryn, for sharing your expertise and heart with the GSE team!

For years, Lisi quietly changed the way she lived because of something she was too embarrassed to talk about. After having her two children, Lisi began experiencing urinary incontinence. Over time, she stopped going to public places, worried she wouldn't make it to a restroom in time. She pulled away from her husband and found herself limiting her life around a condition she couldn't control.💔 Then she found One World Surgery.

Within weeks, Lisi had a consultation, a diagnosis, and a surgery date with Global Surgical Expedition founder Dr. David Rapp. On January 22, 2026, she received the care she had been waiting for.💙

Today, Lisi is going to work, spending time with her family, and leaving the house without the fear that once followed her everywhere. She shared her story because she knows there are other women quietly living the same way. They deserve to know that help is possible.✨ Lisi’s story is one example of what access to specialized surgical care can mean—and why the partnership between One World Surgery and Global Surgical Expedition matters. 🤝

Not a clinician? You're still needed. For our January trip to Honduras, we're looking for general volunteers to help with the behind-the-scenes work that makes patient care possible.💙 That might mean helping in the kitchen, pitching in on the farm, or supporting the surgical center with day-to-day needs. These roles may not happen in the operating room, but they are essential to everything that does. 🍳 🐷 📃

Meals need to be prepared. Spaces need to be ready. Teams need support. And every helping hand allows our clinical team to stay focused on caring for patients.

It’s about building stronger healthcare systems, training local providers, and creating sustainable programs that continue long after a surgical team goes home.🏥 That’s the future we’re working toward. For nearly 11 million people in Honduras, access to specialized urology and urogynecology care is incredibly limited.🇭🇳 Only three urogynecological surgeons serve the entire country. That’s why our partnership with One World Surgery matters. 💙

Global Surgical Expedition and OWS have worked together for years, and this formalized partnership takes that collaboration a step further. Together, we're building a stronger, more sustainable urology and urogynecology program in Honduras—one that goes beyond individual surgical missions.

GSE will provide specialized training for OWS clinical staff, help develop patient resources, and share the knowledge and protocols needed to strengthen care for the long term. Because sustainable global surgery isn't just about bringing specialists to where they're needed. It’s about investing in local teams so they can continue providing specialized care long after we leave.🤩 We're proud to partner with One World Surgery to help make that possible. 🤝

Meet Stephanie, a dedicated volunteer with Global Surgical Expedition’s Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Program.🩷 Stephanie is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Board Certified Orthopaedic Clinical Specialist, and Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Manual Physical Therapists. She has also completed specialized pelvic floor rehabilitation training and has experience providing physical therapy, wound care, and education in underserved communities in Guatemala City. 🇬🇹

That experience makes Stephanie a valuable part of GSE’s efforts to expand access to pelvic floor care beyond surgery. Through education, physical therapy and practical tools, the program helps patients better understand their bodies and manage conditions that can impact their everyday lives.🤩 For Stephanie, this work is about more than physical therapy. It’s an opportunity to share her expertise, learn from the communities she serves, and help build access to care that can continue long after a GSE team returns home. We're grateful for the knowledge, compassion, and dedication Stephanie brings to the GSE family. 💙
