In Mentes Creativas (Creative Minds) class, PEP-3 students made their own bracelets this week. 💗

Is it a craft project? Yes. Is it also quietly building creativity, fine motor skills, concentration, and patience? Also yes. Did some of our students show more patience stringing tiny beads than most adults we know? Absolutely yes. 😄

Learning a new language takes practice — and what makes HCA's adult English program special is that native English speakers (our international volunteers) come to every class so our students can work up the courage to have a real conversation.

And make no mistake — the volunteers feel exactly the same way about practicing their Spanish. 😄

Learning together, making mistakes together, building successes together — that's how we roll at Honduras Child Alliance. 💛

Let's talk about Cristian. As one of HCA's first interns nearly a decade ago, Cristian has been teaching in our adult English program for many years. He now works full time outside HCA — but he still carefully prepares lessons, rallies the Adult English team, and shows up two evenings a week to teach English to community members.

He even used a week of his own vacation to help teach Convo-Amigos Spanish to our retreat guests. 💛

That kind of leadership and commitment? It's everything.

The adult English program wasn't in the plan back in 2010 — but when local police officers walked into PEP-Centro and asked for a class, we couldn't say no. 😄

Now here we are in 2026, with dedicated bilingual HCA staff and international volunteers ready to practice alongside our adult students. It's a language opportunity, a friendship opportunity, and honestly — we all understand the world a little better when we learn how someone else speaks it.
