Doxed and falsely arrested: Nana’s nightmare working in Hong Kong.

Nana came to Hong Kong hoping to work, but instead faced false accusations, doxxing, arrest, and public shame.

While waiting for a visa application, police suddenly arrested her after her employer accused her of theft. Although no evidence was found and she was released the next day, the trauma remained. Her employer also doxxed her on Facebook, sharing her photo and private details.

With the support of STOP and other organizations, she filed a complaint and eventually received the money owed to her. Her story is not only about one woman’s nightmare but also reflects the hardships many migrant domestic workers face when power, language, and fear are used against them.

Please refer to the website for the full story.

From 28 to 30 July, ahead of World Day Against Trafficking in Persons 2026, STOP launches an online campaign to expose the trap of exploitation and raise awareness of exploited migrant workers in Hong Kong and promote their rights. Through an interactive role-play game, real voices, and personal stories, we invite the public to better understand the choices and challenges faced by migrant domestic workers in Hong Kong.

Join us on IG Stories to play the Decision Tree Game and make decisions as migrant domestic workers in their journey!

Happy International Domestic Workers' Day!

On this day, we honour the work of domestic workers in Hong Kong and across the world. According to the International Labour Organisation, over 75 million domestic workers are serving our families and communities, yet over 80% lack social protection or job security.

The Domestic Workers Convention was adopted on this day in 2011, recognising domestic work as REAL work for the first time. On this occasion, STOP would like to bring attention to the essential work that 368,000 migrant domestic workers do, and their contributions to Hong Kong society.

STOP updates: Post-Disaster Peer Support Training
STOP was keeping a close eye on community needs after the Tai Po Fire incident. As STOP has strong ties with MDW community, it found that the MDWs directly affected by the disaster, especially Bahasa-Indonesia speakers, had little access to emotional support due to language barriers. Meanwhile, MDWs typically turn to friends or fellow workers for help and comfort.

In response to the identified service gap, STOP and Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) Hong Kong with the shared concern co-held a Post-Disaster Peer Support Training for MDW community leaders on 14 December 2025. Psychologists and professional counsellors from MSF explained stress after crisis, practical skills to cope with emotions, and Psychological First Aids (PFA) principles, while STOP Program Manager, Dr. Chole Martin gave self-care tips for carers. Bahasa-Indonesia translation was also provided on site.

About 40 community leaders became more equipped to support fire-affected and other trauma-affected MDWs. They shared what they learned:
- “(How to) be a good listener and understand someone’s behaviour and characteristics. Ways and means of giving support to a person who are in trauma and feeling depressed.”
- “Let’s also have boundaries and self-care (when we help others), this is what I love hearing.”
