A huge thank you to the Red Cross for providing us with a wonderful space at their new Tai Po centre - “Together @ Tai Po Hab” (大埔•共建坊 TOGETHER @ Tai Po Hub)!

With their support, we brought a legal sharing session directly to beneficiaries in Tai Po, helping them build basic legal awareness and recognize when to reach out for support.

Collaborations like this make a lasting impact in our community. We are deeply grateful for the Red Cross’s hospitality and shared commitment to serving those in need.

It’s Okay Not to Be Okay 💚

At Equal Justice, we firmly believe that mental health support belongs in every conversation, workplace, and community.

This World Mental Illness Awareness Week, from 5–10 October 2026, we are proud to join OCD & Anxiety Support Hong Kong (OCD & Anxiety Support HK) in supporting the Green Ribbon Campaign 2026. The green ribbon is a recognised emblem of mental health awareness, serving as a beacon of hope, support, and understanding for those affected by mental health issues.

Throughout this week, our team will be:
-Wearing the green ribbon in solidarity.
-Supporting open discussions about anxiety, OCD, and broader mental wellbeing.
-Amplifying OCDAHK’s vital mission and community resources.

Together, we can create environments where seeking help is seen as a sign of strength, not weakness.

Link in our bio

📢 Our latest Impact Report is out!

Read it here: Link in our bio

🧡 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make this report possible:
Mourant, for generously sponsoring the report’s production and management.
Don Mak, for creating and donating the beautiful artwork: www.donmak.co
The Right Mix, and especially Sonja Wiederhofer, for their design talent, patience, and care.

And last but certainly not least, our immense gratitude goes to our partners, supporters, volunteers, donors, and our amazing, persistent, and extraordinary team.

Without all of these incredible people, none of our legal welfare, legal literacy, and digital legal innovation work would be possible. And without that hard work and teamwork, our shared socio-economic impact could not be articulated, recognised, and celebrated in this report.

Truly, it is never our work alone.

Kris*, a Nepalese construction worker, was dismantling a scaffold when suddenly the structure collapsed, causing him to fall to the ground and fracturing his leg. Unfortunately, Kris did not receive his sick leave and salary payments from his employer. Furthermore, time was running out as Kris needed to file his claim before the two-year limitation period. Kris felt lost and could not cope with applying for legal aid, so he sought help from Equal Justice.

Equal Justice arranged for an interpreter and numerous meetings with Kris to help him apply for legal aid. Before legal aid is granted, Equal Justice also found pro bono lawyers through the CLIX pro bono legal portal who were willing to help file the application in case legal aid was not granted in time.

Through proper guidance and support, Kris’ legal aid was successfully granted before the limitation period. He was also empowered to take the next steps with the legal aid assigned lawyer. This case demonstrates how Equal Justice plays a vital role in supporting individuals during urgent applications, closing legal and language gaps, and empowering clients to take legal action with confidence.

*Kris is a pseudonym
