Our children had so much fun learning about traditional LNY celebrations and how we welcome in the new Year of the Horse. Thank you so much to Save the Children Hong Kong 香港救助兒童會 for supporting this cultural initiative, and bringing our kids together to have fun, enjoy creating traditional Chinese art, eat fabulous food and learn about the vibrant customs that make this time of year so special.

We wish our community good fortune and joy in the year ahead. 🐎

Our amazing colleague, Uzma Naveed, fled religious persecution a decade ago, leaving her engineering career to seek asylum in Hong Kong. In her powerful TEDxTinHauWomen Talk, she challenges the stigma of being a refugee, revealing struggles of dehumanisation and longing for dignity. Uzma shares her past and the painful realities of seeking asylum, sharing her journey to advocate for empathy, dignity, and the recognition of every refugee's resilience.

We are so proud of you Uzma! Thank you for being such a powerful voice for refugees all around the world.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic fire at Wang F*k Court in Tai Po, and our heartfelt sympathies go out to all the families and individuals affected.

This devastating event has resulted in the heartbreaking loss of life and has left more than 2,000 people without their homes and belongings.

In response, the Hong Kong community has shown tremendous generosity with immediate donations of food, water, and supplies. As the situation evolves, local authorities and charities are now requesting that community support shift toward sustaining these families in the weeks and months ahead.

To facilitate this, our charity partner has established an emergency relief programme. They have set up a dedicated page outlining the most effective ways to support the affected communities: https://feedinghk.org/tai-po/

The immediate priority is financial contributions. These funds will directly support local charities and augment food supplies where needed. Every donation makes a difference. We thank you for your generous support.

Pride doesn't begin to describe what we felt yesterday. Our colleague Uzma Naveed —a mother, a leader, a friend, a force of nature—transfixed the audience at the TEDxTinHauWomen event with her journey from asylum seeker to a cornerstone of our community.

Her telling of a ten-year journey to find belonging was met with a thunderous standing ovation, leaving not a single dry eye in the house.

Now a recognized refugee, Uzma masterfully directs our LEAD ladies' empowerment programme, using her powerful voice to champion diversity and inclusion across Hong Kong. She is the living, breathing heart of this work.
Uzma’s story is a powerful call to look beyond the headlines and see the individual. It challenges us to dismantle our preconceptions and open our hearts to the stories that walk among us every day.

Uzma, you are a profound inspiration.

Things have been heating up at CFR! Big thanks to the very kind donation of over 1800 flasks from the kings of temperature-controlled liquid refreshment, Thermos.

Our community can keep their cool, or enjoy the heat in style, from this iconic household name which is constantly revolutionising food on the go!

Did you know, Thermos was the first company to develop household products using vacuum insulation? So, every time you sip on yours, give credit to the big hearts and clever minds of the brand that has been keeping temperatures in check since 1904!

We recently said goodbye to one of our cherished ladies, who had been in HK for seven years, heading to Canada to start afresh. She has been an integral part of the CFR community – joining our LEAD and Wellbeing programmes, and always having a smile to share. Upon leaving, she expressed her appreciation of how CFR had helped.

It is moments like these that make us appreciate the gift our community gives to us – a wonderful, inspiring and hopeful community that we are very proud to serve.
