【 #港青話你知 – 從語文中聯繫世界】
在一般教學中，語文常被視為枯燥的背誦與考試；但在新會商會港青基信學校推動下，語文不只是學科，更是連接世界與表達自我能力的基石；亦可以是一場別開生面的「語文派對」！讓學生在寫作、閱讀及口語表達方面建立更穩固的基礎。
在寫作方面，每年舉辦兩次的「全校寫作」活動，將聯合國可持續發展目標元素融入在內，以「可持續聖誕」為主題創作；亦配合「世界郵政日」安排學生與英國學校以書信來往，提升書面表達能力。在閱讀方面，學校在世界閱讀周鼓勵學生「放下一切、即時閱讀」，除了邀請作家 Rachel Ip 分享創作心得外，也透過主題造型日及「罐子裡的書」比賽，鼓勵他們運用想像力呈現自己最喜愛的故事。在口語表達方面，學校每逢星期一均設討論環節，就可持續發展議題討論，學校同時鼓勵學生參加香港學校朗誦節，訓練演說與表達技巧，歷年來培育不少學生獲得冠軍。
語文學習，從來不只是認字、造句和背誦；新會商會港青基信學校的語文教學目標就是讓孩子懂得閱讀世界、清晰表達，並勇敢說出自己的想法。

[ Updates - Connecting with the World Through Language]
Language learning is often associated with memorizing vocabulary and preparing for examinations. At San Wui Commercial Society YMCA of Hong Kong Christian School, language is much more than a subject. It is a powerful tool for connecting with the world, expressing ideas and building confidence.
Through its “language party” approach, the school helps students strengthen their writing, reading and speaking skills in engaging ways. Twice a year, the Whole-school Writing activity integrates the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, inviting students to explore themes such as “Sustainable Christmas” through creative writing. Around World Post Day, students also exchange letters with a school in the UK, developing written communication skills while connecting across cultures.
During World Reading Week, students are encouraged to “Drop Everything and Read”. Author Rachel Ip was invited to share her creative journey, while themed dress-up days and the “Book in a Jar” competition inspired students to bring their favourite stories to life.
Every Monday, students discuss sustainability-related topics and practise expressing their views. They are also encouraged to join the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival, developing public-speaking skills and confidence. Over the years, many students have achieved championship awards.
Language learning is more than words and grammar. It empowers children to read the world, communicate with clarity and speak up with courage.
