Rotary Kowloon Golden Mile

Rotary Kowloon Golden Mile The liveliest & friendliest Rotary Club in Hong Kong

We conduct our meetings in English (with Indian characteristics!), but
our members speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Banana, Indian (Hindi, Sindhi & Apache), German, French, Spanish, Danish, Australian, Klingon, Um-Foo-Foo and Swahili. Our club has a balanced percentage of Chinese, Indian and Western members, and we are extremely proud that about 30% of our membership are ladies. The "Westerners" includ

e some Australians, Englishmen, Scotsmen and Canadians, but, since we are such tolerant people, we even allowed some Germans, Americans, an Irishman and other people with terrible dress sense and silly dances to join, but we accept absolutely no responsibility for their unruly behaviour ! Lunch is only HK$350 (US$45) per person (cash, major credit cards, baseball cards and
food stamps accepted), for a 3 course meal (regular, vegetarian or intravenous menu). This low price includes one standard drink (beer, wine, popular spirits, soft drinks, Mad Dog 20/20, rocket fuel, castor oil and something which looks remarkably like grandma's h***h, but without those endearing lumpy bits). Great guest speakers every week (OK, OK, not counting those rare times when we let PP Louis Thomas tell corny jokes, which nobody ever understands!). We meet right in the heart of the Golden Mile shopping area, directly above
Tsimshatsui MTR station, and we have no enforced dress code !

Dear KGMERS,

Many thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend today’s lunch meeting. We had a wonderful speaker, Uzma Naveed, introduced thanks to Rotarian Jackson, who shared valuable insights into the plight of refugees in Hong Kong. A special thank you to PP Maki for liaising with the speaker.

Heartfelt thanks as well to Fellowship Director Dinesh, who once again did an excellent job organising today’s event. Thank you to PE Steven for delivering the vote of thanks, and to Jackson for introducing Uzma.

I understand that some of you may have visited the refugee center in TST—I hope it went well.

The lucky draw raised $1,600.

Thank you again for your attendance, support, and contributions. They are greatly appreciated.

See you all at the next club meeting, which will be an evening meeting at KCC. Stay happy and safe.

Great Board and Club meeting yesterday evening. It was a highly productive session, with many important matters addressed during the Board meeting.

To all Board members, thank you for being punctual and for keeping to the allocated timings, which enabled us to conclude on schedule. Thank you to PP Nanu for attending despite having another engagement. Special thanks to Dinesh for organising the Zoom connection, and to Sec Pooja for taking the minutes.

The Club meeting also had a wonderful atmosphere. Chris Tan presented the profiles of six shortlisted potential adoptees. We truly appreciate the effort that went into preparing this shortlist. Great work, Chris. Please liaise with Chris to learn more about the candidates, and we will proceed with the adoption process. I will be adopting one candidate shortly.

My heartfelt thanks to Dinesh as well for taking on the organiser’s role and for stepping in as Sergeant. He continues to be a special asset to the club.

PE Steven Tremeer also provided a glimpse of his Board for 2025/26. Much more will be shared at the club installation. We are extremely grateful to Steve for taking on this responsibility. Let us offer PE Steven and his Board our wholehearted support. I will ensure a smooth transition on 4 July and will provide my full, unselfish support to him and his Board.

Heartfelt thanks to PP Raja for proposing that we collect funds to support Chris Tan’s adoptee candidates with a tidy-up of their place.

It was also excellent to see former KGMer, P Novy Hung, and visiting Rotarians from Singapore in attendance. We received some positive and encouraging feedback regarding our meeting.

Looking forward to our next meeting. In the meantime, take care and stay safe.

Photos to follow. If you took any, please feel free to post them here.

Many thanks to all who attended yesterday’s Club lunch meeting. It was truly wonderful to see Phoebe, Pico, Chris, and Jackson in attendance.

The speaker certainly lived up to his name and delivered a very informative session. We only wish we had a little more time. Thank you to PDG David for arranging for him to speak and for doing the introduction. It was also great to see our newest member, Harish, step up and thank the speaker.

Thank you to Dinesh and PP Maki for their support with the speaker arrangements.

My heartfelt appreciation goes to Dinesh and Krish for their excellent work in organising the meeting. Thank you also to PE Steven for stepping in as Sergeant, and to Lena for coordinating the lucky draw.

We were also pleased to welcome another visiting Rotarian, Charles Rixon from RC Taiwan Metropolitan. Feedback from many members indicates that the meal was very enjoyable.

Finally, a reminder: some of you may have forgotten to take your celebratory wine, courtesy of mine. It is stored at Holiday Inn. Please remember to collect it at the next meeting.

Looking forward to our next meeting. In the meantime, take care and stay safe.

On behalf of District Governor Cassy Cheng and the organising committee, I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to each and every one of you who participated in, volunteered for, and supported the Rotary Hong Kong Ultramarathon 2026 cm End Polio Walk.

Despite the gloomy weather, your incredible energy and commitment helped make the event a resounding success. Whether you were running in the race, walking to raise awareness for Polio eradication, or cheering from the sidelines, your presence sent a powerful message about our collective dedication to Service Above Self.

It was truly inspiring to see so many Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, family members, and friends come together on the track. Together, we demonstrated the spirit of Rotary—uniting for good—while promoting health, resilience, and meaningful action in our global effort to End Polio Now.

A special thank you to IPP Vinod for putting together teams to represent the club in the 10km and walk categories, as well as to all volunteers and participants who contributed in every way.

Thank you for lacing up your shoes and for your generous support. Let’s continue to strive for a polio-free world.

My heartfelt thanks to everyone who attended last night’s Board and Club meeting.

Many thanks to Dinesh and Krish for their wonderful work in organising the event. Thank you also to Steven for stepping in as Sargent and for his support in organising the lucky draw.

I would also like to express my appreciation to Terrence for bringing in an inspiring speaker in Florence, and to PP Raja for bringing forward potential new members. We look forward to welcoming them into our club in due course.

Thank you to PP CK for sharing some background on our club formation. It was also great to see CP Chandru joining in for the Board meeting. And thank you to PP Simon for staying up late and for zooming into the Board meeting.

Looking forward to our next meeting.

Dear KGMERS,

Thank you for taking time out from your busy schedule to attend today’s lunch meeting.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to everyone for your support and participation. The Fellowship Director Dinesh, Krish, and I were glad to welcome you and ensure a smooth and enjoyable programme.

A big thank you to Rtn. Steven for the guest introduction and for stepping in to support Sargent Maitreyi.

Special thanks to Anmol and Steven for their excellent work with the lucky draw.

We also enjoyed a great speaker and subject introduction by Neel.

Even with a slight change in the running of the programme due to equipment issues, the Speaker Q&A session was a success, and everyone’s engagement made the session truly meaningful. We look forward to bringing the presentation back at a later date when we have the opportunity.

Everyone’s attendance, support, and contributions are greatly appreciated. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

What a great outing today! We all had a lot of fun at the 15th Hong Kong Bowling Tournament for all (cum 14th Hong Kong Blind Bowling Tournament) on 23rd February 2025 (Sunday), held at the South China Athletic Association (SCAA) Bowling Centre, 88 Caroline Hill Road, Causeway Bay. It was an event filled with spirit and community, with a meaningful focus on inclusion—each team of four included a visually impaired bowler (assigned by HKBSF).Special shout-out to Maitreyi, who discovered a new talent on the lanes—dropping the pins superbly!

Big heartfelt thanks to Kalvin, our new member, for his hard work organising everyone to attend this worthy event—and for bringing such great energy throughout. We’d also like to thank PP Castley and Zander Castley for their wonderful support. Amazing guys!!

Another well-attended and successful lunch meeting was held on Wednesday. Thank you for taking time out of your busy schedules to attend, and thank you for bringing your guests.

Heartfelt thanks to Fellowship Director Dinesh and Krish for their hard work and dedication in organizing the meeting.

Thank you as well to Rtn. Steven for his role as quiz master. Also, thank you to PP Maki for organizing and introducing the speaker, and to Terence for delivering the vote of thanks. It was great to see Anmol attend and lend a hand in organizing the lucky draw.

Everyone’s attendance, support, and contributions are greatly appreciated.

A number of you commented that the lunch was very good. See you all at the next club meeting, which will be an evening meeting (a combined Board and Regular meeting at KCC).

Thanks to everyone who joined. Around midday guests enjoyed cocktails before being seated for a prompt start. President Deven Pandaram opened with brief updates, the AGM proceeded smoothly, and the programme moved on to a lively lucky draw and a toast. The Chinese family‑style lunch (veg and non‑veg options) was well received, and the event finished on time at 2:00pm. Short, efficient and convivial — a good turnout and positive atmosphere
