The fire incident in Wang Fu Court in Tai Po is deeply sad! To complement the support efforts, the Hong Kong Social Workers Association has produced a "social worker resource kit" to enable social workers to provide appropriate assistance to needy citizens and service users during this difficult time.
(a) The "Social Worker Resource Kit" covers the following areas for reference and referrals by social workers in frontline services:
- Rest stop and accommodation arrangements
- Urgent inquiries (including search, medical inquiry and online safety check)
- Mental and emotional support services
- Financial and food aid
- Community physical support
- Bereavement support
- Pet support services
(ii) Release and update arrangements for resource kit
The "Social Worker Resource Kit" is now uploaded on the Hong Kong Association of Social Workers website https://www.hkswa.org.hk/handy_info_critical-incident-of.../ and page, and will be updated in response to service needs and latest situation. Social workers can download and repost relevant information according to service needs to enhance support for affected citizens and service users.
(iii) Appeal
I hope that my colleagues will keep their position and serve the people of Hong Kong, and will not forget to take care of their physical and mental health Let's use the expertise of social workers to support those affected by the fire and share this difficult time with the people of Hong Kong!
