香港政府於一九九四年因應老人健康護理的需要，倡議建立護養院。本社社長覺光法師時在美國弘法，聞訊返港響應。獲准由本社申請政府撥地三千七百平方米，於上水保平路興建樓高六層，可容二百餘住院名額之新型資助護老院
