Our Organization: (Brief History)
The YCW (Young Christian Workers) was born at the beginning of the 20th century from the initiative of Belgian priest Cardijn, and some young workers who were concerned about the pitiful conditions that their fellow workers in Belgium were facing in factories, mills and mines, and their families and neighbourhoods. In the 1930 YCW spread rapidly in other continent

s of Africa, America and Asia. Today IYCW in Asia exist is Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, Philippines, Sri Lanka and Thailand organizing young workers of all faiths, races and colours in every continent. YCW is a Movement of Young Workers:
• The YCW is part of those movements which continue to inspire to, and build a new society. As a movement of young workers in Action, the YCW wants to the young workers to fulfil their deepest aspirations, live in dignity and build a new society.
• It is a movement of, among, by and for the young workers; a democratic organization run and directed by the young people workers themselves.
• It is a movement that creates communities where young workers can share and review all aspects of their lives and action. YCW believes that young workers make their own history using their own reality as a primary tool and reference to develop action in changing their lives.
• It is a movement of education through action. It takes account right where the young workers are, and considers its task of education a Priority. Vision and Mission:
• Allow the young workers to discover the dignity of both men and women.
• To train young workers who assume the responsibility for finding solution to their situations at the base, national to the continental level;
• To promote interreligious dialogue and create an intercultural society where solidarity prevail. YCW starts always in the ACTION: The YCW starts out from the personal and collective situations that young workers live in everyday life and from the contradictions that exist in society. It takes account of their situation, whether they are working or unemployed, in the informal sector, communities, services, farmers, pedicab, working student, factory and free trade zone workers etc. In today’s society, these young people belong to the working class and share the same situation of exploitation, oppression and exclusion. They are living in a society divided into opposing classes, which leads to a struggle. Human values are manipulated to serve the interest’s o those who control production and consumption. Who are we?
