25 March 2026 - The Consulate General of the Philippines in Hong Kong, together with the Migrant Workers Office (MWO-HK) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA-HK), assisted twelve (12) transiting Filipino seafarers who arrived at Hong Kong International Airport on 22 March 2026.

The 12 Filipino seafarers were rescued in Iraqi waters after their Marshall Islands-flagged cargo vessel, Safesea Vishnu, was struck and sank. During their layover, officials and staff of the Consulate General, MWO-HK, and OWWA-HK accompanied the transiting Filipino seafarers through immigration checks and ensured their welfare and overall condition.
