For centuries, mankind has gone through great lengths to challenge the nature and their limits – to reach high. Babylonians built tall towers to reach the sky, the Wright Brothers built airplanes, and up till today, humans are looking for ways to travel or live on the moon. Here we see, people are not simply content with their current situation, but are ambitious to make breakthroughs. This year,
the theme of the Rotaract Club of HKUST is “Breakthrough with Flying Colours”. By ‘breakthrough’, we refer to the challenges we set for ourselves to try out new things, as well as the insights we bring to the people around us and the aid we give to the needy to improve their lives. As the old saying goes, “One should surpass oneself before one surpasses others”. The ‘breakthrough’ that we are targeting at is not confined to achievements that are traditionally recognized, but instead, a benchmark we set for ourselves to make a difference, or simply a small breakthrough to ourselves. We are encouraging young adults to dream big, but at the same time, stick to the aspirations and actualize them. Executive Committee:
