🌊 Why Water? Why Dance?

“In 2024, our state was dramatically impacted by long-term flooding. With an incredible network of rivers, the polluted Guaíba River receives water from many surrounding waterways—and our city experienced nearly 40 days of flooding, leaving communities underwater and exposing serious issues with flood management and the maintenance of protective infrastructure.”

Today, our waters are still facing the impact of chemical pollutants and heavy metals, while our land and agriculture—the heart of our local economy—continue to struggle.

So why water?
Why dance?

Because water connects us. And dance gives us a way to speak, gather, remember, and take action. 💧🌎
Global Water Dances brings artists and communities together around the world to raise awareness for the water we all depend on.
