Why 1%?

Behind every statistic is a young person who deserves to be heard, understood, and supported. 🌱

Resilience isn't something youth have to build alone. Besides their parents, when a young person has 5 caring adults they can reach out to, talk to, and laugh with, it creates a strong safety net where they never have to carry the weight by themselves.

1% is not just a reminder for all of us to pause for 15 minutes every day to recharge.

It’s also an invitation to be that adult figure when a youth is running on their last 1% of energy.

1% is simply a gentle reminder to take 15 minutes out of your day to stop for a moment and listen to what you truly need.

You don't need to do anything grand. It could be taking a few deep breaths, tuning into your mood, spacing out for a bit, checking your energy levels, writing down your feelings, or simply asking yourself: "What do I need right now?"

Hope of the City is thrilled to once again be selected as an official charity for the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2027! 🏃‍♂️💨

While all of our official charity runner quotas are now full*, you can still run for a greater impact! If you secured a spot through the public ballot, we’d love for you to join us as a Hope Runner! 🏃‍♀️✨

Why run with us? In Hong Kong, 1 in 4 students suffer from at least one mental disorder. By running with Hope of the City, the funds you raise will empower our youth programmes, equipping local youth with mentorship, resilience, and community. 🌿❤️

Hope is Brewing Cafe is officially opening this Saturday! 🎉☕

​Here’s a quick throwback to our soft opening! It was such a great learning experience for our youth, giving them space to practise and fine-tune every detail. They are now working hard on the final preparations!

This one is for our volunteers.

We see you. We see you…

… when you picked up the broom to help clean up, even when no one asked you to.
… when you knelt beside a child to help him engage in the lesson.
… when you sat under a table with a child and protected him from the sharp edges.
… when you persisted, even though a child didn’t engage with you at first.
… when you prepared all the materials needed for a cooking class even though you have a full-time job of your own and dessert isn’t what you usually make!

We appreciate you for all the silent efforts you make behind the scenes, including the ones we don’t even know about.

Thanks for being a vital part of spreading hope in this city! 🏙️❤️
