We at New Sight are deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Serge Poulin, a cherished friend and passionate advocate for global health. We were privileged to meet him in Quebec alongside his fellow Rotarian Pierre Martin, who were the Canadian hosts to the Samoutou Family's North American tour last year. (Serge pictured here between Henri and Joyce, with Pierre on the right.)

A dedicated humanitarian, Serge spent over a decade advancing international eye care. Known for his infectious joy and selfless spirit, he leaves a lasting legacy. Our heartfelt condolences go to his family. With Joyce Samoutou-Wong The Samoutou Family

Thanks to our volunteer Elisha Pang who made this video, we get to enjoy the energy and big smiles of Week 1 of the kids' summer camp! The week was filled with exciting "firsts"—trying new activities, learning new skills, and meeting our international visitors. You can see it in their eyes: pure wonder and joy!

Calling all performers and supporters! New Sight is hosting Harmony of Hope: Music Marathon 2026, a joyful fundraising music event to support life-changing healthcare and eye care work in Congo — and we would love you to be part of it!
We want soloists, duos and groups of all musical genres. Each standard performance slot is 5 minutes, and performers are asked to raise or contribute a minimum donation of HK$1,000 per performer.

As summer holidays in Ouesso began this year, we kicked off our 4 weeks of kids' camps! In each week-long day camp, kids participated in games and lessons and met friends from Congo and around the world; they discovered the joy of learning, developed confidence and good character, and made new friends. We can't wait to share more about our 4 weeks of summer with you!

We've been so blessed to have Josiah and James to help Cherissa, Karis and Joyce in our first 2 weeks of summer camp! The two young people have travelled with Josiah's father Dr John Buchan to Ouesso. Over the past two weeks, they've been playing with the kids, teaching them origami, making teaching materials by hand, and leading fun science experiments that left the children wide-eyed with wonder. They sang with the kids, laughed with them, and cared for them like the most attentive big brothers. The children absolutely adored them!
Thank you, Josiah and James, for giving your time and energy to bring so much joy and learning to our community.

We opened the doors and officially moved into the New Sight Hospital in Ouesso! 🏥✨
As we celebrate this anniversary, we reflect on this past year, which fills us with immense gratitude. What started as a monumental dream in the rainforest is now a bustling regional centre for healthcare, training, and community development.
Moving into this incredible facility marked a beautiful new phase of growth for us. We have officially evolved from a specialist eye care charity into an integrated healthcare organisation—where restoring sight remains central, but providing whole-person care is our broader mission.
Thank you to everyone who helped us build, transition, and bring this hospital to life. Because of your unwavering support, the best is truly yet to come! 🇨🇬❤️
