Please like and support the page: there may be friends around about to dump their old PCs! In 2001, Caritas received sponsorship from Social Welfare Department IEA Fund, to set up an computer workshop in order to provide computer training for around 200 unemployed youth receiving CSSA to prepare them for employment. As part of the training, every trainees were asked to refurbish discarded computer

s and donate them to the children from deprived families or NGOs. In 2003, we received sponsorship from Environment Protection Department (EPD) to run an experimental Computer Recycle Project which has three missions: 1) reduce dumping, 2) to train the unemployed and 3) bridge the digital barrier. With the advice from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and sponsorship from EPD, Caritas started an experimental Cathode Ray Tube Monitor recycling programme since 2007. The programme receives support from the Hong Kong Jockey Club, Microsoft Corporation, banks, the public organizations, the commercial sector, the real estate management with more than 40,000 pieces of donations each year. Thousands of computers were donated for free (with sponsor) or sold at cost to the deprived and the NGO.
