On World Refugee Day, we remember the strength, courage, and resilience of those who have been forced to flee their homes.
Mary and Adam fled persecution in Egypt with little certainty about what the future would hold. Although refugee status has limited many of their life choices, they have held on to hope and raised four children who are studious, hardworking, and caring.
Born and raised in Hong Kong, 14-year-old Kristine is a gifted and passionate young student. She loves music and the arts, has played a leading role in a school play, and plays the guitar with joy and dedication. She also drew the picture featured in this post, showing a flower growing out of something broken — a powerful reminder that beauty and hope can emerge even after hardship. She has now secured a place at The Harbour School in Grade 8, and through SEA CF, she is receiving support for a second-hand laptop to help her continue her studies.
Her eldest sister, Joanne, is 22 years old and has already reached an important milestone by graduating from high school. She has secured a place in a Bachelor of Management and Food Science programme at a local Hong Kong university, and SEA CF is helping with her tuition costs.
These are not just stories of hardship. They are stories of hope, determination, and the power of support.
