CHAT 六廠 CHAT is a community museum located on the 2/F of The Mills in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong.

CHAT’s Identity
Inspired by the fundamental structure of warps and wefts in woven textile, CHAT’s logo reflects our mission – to integrate different voices, disciplines and practices. Eight distinctive colours were developed from architectural features in the factory buildings as well as features reminiscent of Hong Kong’s textile industry. CHAT’s Vision
In the state of geo-political turmoil in th

e 1950s Asia Pacifi­c, the textile industry in Hong Kong sowed its seed and achieved a rapid development throughout the latter half of the twentieth century. Today, CHAT (Centre for Heritage, Arts and Textile) represents a new place of new beginnings in the next phase of Hong Kong and Asia’s textile arts development and innovation. Paying homage to the progressive energy of Hong Kong’s textile industry in the past and taking advantage of the multiple meanings associated with plain cotton yarn, CHAT will tell the stories of Hong Kong’s textile industrial history and beyond, challenge the conventional meanings of textile arts and present myriad interpretations of textile material and subject matters. We invite our visitors to experience the spirit of the innovative legacy of Hong Kong's textile industry and engage in new dialogues and inspirational journeys that interweave contemporary art, design, heritage and community. 靈感源自編織過程裡最主要的結構「經」與「緯」，CHAT 六廠的品牌標誌顯示出我們的使命 —— 將不同的觀點、專業與實踐模式交織在一起。由工廠大廈的建築特質及香港紡織業的昔日點滴出發，發展出我們獨有的八種顏色。

CHAT六廠展望
上世紀五十年代，正值亞太區陷於環球政治動盪之際，紡織業在香港漸漸萌芽，其後於二十世紀下旬迅速發展。時至今日，CHAT 六廠（六廠紡織文化藝術館）將會為香港以至亞洲的紡織藝術孕育潛力與創新的全新空間。

【Slow Art Collective｜互動藝術空間 🧶🎾✨】
澳洲藝術團體 Slow Art Collective 由 Chaco Kato 和 Dylan Martorell 帶領，透過輕鬆的手作體驗，邀請大家發掘日常中的藝術潛能。💡 他們不追求「完美」的成果，而是邀請參與者享受自由創作的過程。🎨

今次「織時大叫！」的展出中，他們把展廳分為兩個空間，邀請公眾參與其中！

✨《PSC/聲之多彩俱樂部》 ：透過重用廢棄材料推動創意永續。♻️ 在螢光色彩下，觀眾可以把網球投入管道，觸發各種發聲裝置！

✨《ESP/能量光譜派對》：利用竹架結構與七彩紗線構成編織空間，邀請觀眾自由編織、打結或纏繞，共同編織一件不斷成長的作品。🧶

不論年齡或經驗，人人都可以親手參與，在互動與共創中感受藝術的樂趣！ 🎨

【Slow Art Collective | An Interactive Art Space 🧶🎾✨】
Led by Chaco Kato and Dylan Martorell, Slow Art Collective from Australia encourages unhurried and hands-on creative processes that uncover the artistic potential in everyday surroundings. 💡 Rather than chasing a ‘perfect’ outcome, they invite you to enjoy the act of creation. 🎨

For ‘Weave and Shout!’, the artists have transformed the gallery into two interactive spaces, inviting visitors to become part of the artworks.

✨ 'PSC / Polychromic Sonic Club’: Made from repurposed materials, this installation explores creative sustainability. ♻️Amid vibrant fluorescent colours, visitors can drop tennis balls into a network of pipes to activate a playful orchestra of sounds.

✨’ESP / Energy Spectrum Party’: Constructed with bamboo structures and colourful yarns, this immersive weaving space invites visitors to weave, plait or knot freely. 🧶 Through collective making, the work continues to grow and evolve with every contribution.

Visitors of all ages and experience levels are welcome to touch, weave, play, and create together while enjoying the simple pleasure of making. 🎨

To make your visit more enjoyable, please note the following:

1️⃣ Visit during non-peak hours
The gallery is usually busiest after 1pm. We recommend visiting around 11am or on weekdays to enjoy the interactive works more comfortably. 🕚

2️⃣ Follow visitors guide and treat the artworks with care
Food and drinks are not allowed inside the gallery. Please do not run or climb in the exhibition space to reduce the risk of accidents.
The interactive works are here for everyone to enjoy, please engage with them gently and appropriately, so that more visitors can share the joy of creativity. ❤️

3️⃣ Lighting effects
Gallery 1 is dimly lit and some areas feature intense lighting effects. 💡 Please watch your step and enter with discretion if you are sensitive to light.

【🚨 Last Call for Special Display at The Hall | Interactive Art Playground of Second-Hand Textiles】

Don’t miss out on the exciting interactive installation at The Hall! On view until 9 August, come and rescue lifelike doggies statues 🐕 with a pump, take pictures of your animal companions, and relive childhood memories by shouting into electric fans! 🥳

The special display at The Hall is co-created by Indonesian artist and storyteller Agus Nur Amal PM Toh with more than 150 members of the public. Using everyday objects and second-hand textiles, they have created this imaginative playground for everyone! You can even become an imaginary news presenter through the TV installation! 📺🎙️

This year’s ‘Seed to Textile 2026: Open Studio’ invites you to take a break from the daily hustle and immerse yourself in a collective creative experience through the simplest gestures of all. Walk-ins are welcome for the following activities, free of charge!

1️⃣ Pattern design worksheet 🎨
With a variety of patterns and vibrant colors, children and adults alike can unleash their creativity and design their own pattern artwork!

2️⃣ Block printing on fabric
Utilise wooden stamps designed by Hong Kong fashion designer Yeung Chin, paired with natural dyes, to co-create unique patterns on fabric.

3️⃣ Tracing Dance in Steps 💃
Developed with guidance from Indian dancer Neesha Jhaveri, Hong Kong choreographer Wong Sui Lun Alan has created four movement sequences inspired by Indian culture. Slip on special shoe covers and dance across the fabric laid on the floor, leaving behind your own dancing footprints.

【A Blessing for Students｜Redeem a Crochet Clover! 🍀】
Take a well-deserved break this summer and recharge with us at CHAT!

CHAT's summer exhibition, ‘Weave and Shout!’, is now open. We warmly invite students to visit with family and friends to explore, create and have fun together. To make your visit even more special, we have partnered with seniors from the Hong Kong Housing Society (Clague Garden Estate – Caring Engaging Smart) to prepare a heartfelt blessing for students!

These craft-loving grandparents specially learnt, or rediscovered, the art of crochet and lovingly handmade a collection of lucky four-leaf clovers. 🍀Each clover carries their wishes of good luck, encouragement and warm support for every student.

How to redeem? Students simply need to:
1️⃣ Present your student card at reception
2️⃣ Post on Threads to thank the seniors or share your thoughts on CHAT’s exhibitions, then tag

As an added bonus, students who complete the redemption can also enjoy a complimentary Illumin-Loom heat-transfer printing paper experience at CHAT. Create your own unique artwork and take home a special keepsake from this summer! 🧵✨

工作坊靈感來自戰後的香港兒童，在資源不多的成長環境中，以想像力把平凡化為無窮的樂趣。☘️ 本地收藏家鍾燕齊將帶領小朋友及同行家長，一起製作四款簡單卻趣味十足的玩具🎁——紙船、高蹺、旋轉玩具及彈射器。

在活動過程中，鍾氏將分享他在香港成長的兒時點滴和收藏心得，並於尾聲與大家一同以日常物品製作玩具！🤲

【✨Bringing Everyday Trinkets to Life! 🧸】
Parents and kids, roll up your sleeves and build toys with things we might find at home!🎈

This workshop is inspired by post-war Hong Kong children, who turned the scarcity into happiness using their imagination. ☘️ Local collector Joel Chung will lead everyone to make four simple yet delightful playthings together: origami boats, tin can stilts, spinning toys and paper clip guns.

During the workshop, Chung will share his childhood memories and his insights into collecting. At the end, everyone will roll up their sleeves to create toys from everyday objects and explore the joy of upcycling together! 🤲
