We are seeking an Operations Coordinator!

The Operations Coordinator supports Para Site’s day-to-day fundraising administration, donor and patron relations, events, and organisational operations. The role provides accurate and responsive administrative support across individual giving, grants, corporate sponsorship, patron programmes and major fundraising events. It also contributes to the effective running of Para Site’s office, public-facing activities, and internal administrative systems.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong organisation, and the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and deadlines as part of a collaborative team structure.

🚀KICKING OFF: Harbour Exchange Fellowship Programme

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that our new reciprocal residency is officially underway!

This collaboration between Cheng‑Lan Foundation (Cheng-Lan Foundation 承蘭藝術文化機構), Delfina Foundation (Delfina Foundation), and Para Site marks a milestone as part of our ‘Para Site: 30 Years’ anniversary programmes. It connects artists from the UK and Hong Kong through a two-month exchange, fostering critical dialogues and new opportunities for future shared projects across the two art communities.

We are proud to introduce the two incredible artists leading this exchange:

Currently in Hong Kong🇭🇰, Shiraz Bayjoo () works across film, painting, photography, and installation to explore cultural memory and postcolonial nationhood. His research interrogates memorialisation: what the city chooses to preserve, how it builds new monuments today, and what is allowed to drift or remain unresolved.

Now in London 🇬🇧, Vvzela Kook (❀Vvzela KOOK) works across moving images, drawing, performance, and theatre. Her transmedia practice investigates the transoceanic movement of ‘exotic animals’ during European expansion, and how the display of these animals in royal menagerie was intertwined with the emergence of panopticon and architecture of violence.

我們很高興宣佈，連結英國香港兩地藝術家的全新交換駐留項目現已展開！

本計劃由承蘭藝術文化機構、Delfina基金會與Para Site聯合主辦，也是「Para Site：三十年」慶祝項目之一。計劃連結英國與香港的藝術家，以為期兩個月的交流促進深度對話，並為兩地藝術社群未來的合作項目開拓更多契機。

我們欣然介紹兩位出色的藝術家：

現駐香港🇭🇰，Shiraz Bayjoo的創作涵蓋電影、繪畫、攝影與裝置，探討文化記憶與後殖民國族認同。他的研究聚焦於紀念：城市選擇保存甚麼、如何在當下建成新的紀念物，以及甚麼是可以游移、不被定論的。

現駐倫敦🇬🇧，曲淵澈的創作跨越流動影像、繪畫、行為與劇場。她的跨媒體實踐探討歐洲擴張時期「珍奇動物」的越洋流動、這些動物在皇家動物園中的展示，以及與全景監控和暴力建築的交錯關係。

What does an institution carry as it changes? Tune into a flowing series of conversations as Para Site morphs into our next chapter! Taking place during Para Site’s 30th Anniversary year, ‘Para Site is Live’ is a public rehearsal for futures in the making.

Taking time to reflect and reposition is a powerful form of agency. Since its founding in 1996, Para Site has advocated for contemporary culture’s capacity to reshape our understanding of society – and ourselves. Looking ahead, we are evermore open to flux, to experimentality, and to nurturing the conditions for surprising alliances and unlikely solidarities. ‘Para Site is Live’ is a community-driven collective score for where we go next.

The broadcast brings together members of our community—spanning three decades and all around the globe—to contribute casually, softly, and intuitively. Broadcast live from our current space in Quarry Bay and a nomadic radio studio designed by HONMI (HONMI), the radio show follows four prompts:

💾Iris Long (Iris Long) – ‘Speaking Nearby Infrastructures: Curatorial Methods for Technoscientific Research’
Drawing on ’Under the Cloud‘, Iris examines how artistic research engages with massive infrastructures, as networks entangled with geology, weather, electricity, labour, scientific practice, state planning, environmental transformation, and collective imagination.

💾Winnie Soon () – ‘^(Coding|Publishing)( Otherwise)$’
Using a regular expression as a title, Winnie explores how ’coding otherwise‘ and ’publishing otherwise‘ challenge normative tech biases, grounded in feminist servers and open-source ethos, this talk is an invitation to re-envision our relationship with machines.

💾Sophie Penkethman-Young (Sophie P-Y) – ‘A personal take on a digital praxis’
In a half-hour ’exorcism‘ of past works, Sophie traces a journey from supermarket flowers to TikTok psychics, exploring how technological systems collapse into dark magic and reveal secret worlds.

💾Clara Che Wei Pei (Clara Che Wei Peh) – Moderator for the ‘Sunday Chatroom’, alongside all afternoon speakers
Founder of Common Protocol for Southeast Asian digital art, and initiator of the itinerant art‑tech discussion series Monday Chatroom.

Tracing mythotechnic currents that shape technology imaginaries, and developing a speculative framework that imagines an alternative to the utopian and doomer narratives dominating tech discourse today.

Exploring the ontological crises birthed by planetary-scale computation, the artist examines the contemporary subject trapped between bodily vulnerability and algorithmic omnipotence, proposing ‘Pre-enactment’.

👾 Stanley Qiufan Chen – ‘The Making of Myths Yet Unborn’
Departing from the ‘upward impulse’ of technology and the ‘downward gaze’ of art to discuss how images might regain their autonomy, and how machines can evolve from submissive mirrors into genuine ‘others’.

👾 Liam Young (liam young) – ‘New Planetary Imaginaries’
A sci-fi safari between fiction and documentary, the journey is both an extraordinary image of tomorrow and an urgent illumination of the environmental questions facing us today.

The 9th edition of our Workshops for Arts Professionals runs alongside the International Conference, ‘Unsubscribe All!’. This year, we’re diving into where contemporary art meets technology – beyond inevitability narratives, towards alternative methodologies for artistic production, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.

🌐Rather than treating tech as a ‘black box’, we approach it as socially embedded infrastructure shaping our environments, languages, and communities. With a regional focus on Asia-Pacific, the programme tackles resource sharing, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and equitable access.

River Lin (River Lin)’s weeklong intervention ‘My Body is a Para Site’ kicks off tomorrow! Join us on Sunday 9 Aug for the final performance, followed by an artist sharing.

This chapter marks a pivotal shift in Lin’s ongoing ‘My Body is…’ series: after taking over museums, a library and a university, ‘My Body is a Para Site’ breaks through institutional walls for the first time, traversing across the city.

Lin will trace how his practice shifted from unsettling the choreography of institutional spaces—their routines and established agendas—to that of everyday life in public space, through the agency of the body. This sharing dives into the stakes: who is allowed where, and how bodies transform space. Join us to explore an institution as a presence rather than a physical site—wherever we stand and gather.

The artist sharing will be moderated by Celia Ho (Esther Celia) and Jessie Kwok (Jessie Kwok), co-curators of the programme Elsewhere in Me, and will be conducted in English.

林人中將梳理其創作如何運用身體的能動性來擾動空間的編排、慣性與預設意圖，以及如何把焦點從機構運作轉向至公共日常生活。我們會深入探討其中的挑戰和角力：誰有權利進入特定場所？身體可怎樣重塑空間？誠邀觀眾一同思考機構在實體空間以外的可能性——凡是有人在場、相遇之處，皆可成為其現場。
