Moving with Courage . .
This Saturday, June 20, 2026, is World Refugee Day, a day to honour the incredible strength and resilience of people forced to flee their home countries. It shines a light on their rights, needs, and dreams, and at RUN Hong Kong, this day holds special meaning for our community.

We work to support the most vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers in Hong Kong. For us, courage is a word that defines every one of our participants. Courage takes many forms, and it shows up for each individual in different ways.

Earlier this month, our participants had an opportunity to reflect on what courage means to them. They wrote about their personal definitions of courage and shared their thoughts through heartfelt speeches during an intimate dinner with a small group of volunteers. This event not only helped participants develop their public speaking skills but also created a safe space for them to share their stories and perspectives.

Hearing their definitions of courage—each unique and deeply emotional—was truly inspiring.
This is just the beginning. We hope to expand opportunities like this in the future, empowering participants to express themselves and share their voices in meaningful ways.

The evening was held at the HK fringe club and we were extremely grateful to partner with Chomp Food, Crushed Wines and Botani Bloom. We are incredibly grateful for their support in helping us to recognise World Refugee Day in such a meaningful way.

🌟Caregiving Workshops with Georgine Leung🌟 . .
The Caregiving team have spent the last 5 weeks doing a deep dive into nutrition and food preparation for all age groups.

The course started out in the classroom, where participants approached the theoretical side of nutrition for various health concerns and patients. They learnt about macronutrient balance, food sensitivities, allergenic foods, as well as looking at how to prepare certain meals.

The theory was put to the test during 3 practical sessions. The caregiving team wowed us with the quality of their healthy meal creations and the new knowledge they had gained.

We want to express our immense gratitude to Georgine for leading this series of classes and inspiring our caregiving team.

Thanks also go to Project 21 for supporting us with the use of their kitchen space, where all the magic happened!

🥾 Advanced Hiking | New Skills 🥾 . .
Over the past few weeks our advanced hiking group have been working with hiking pole specialist, Loïc Le Jannou, aka Loïc the Trekker.

Loïc has been teaching us proper hiking pole technique in order to help our advanced hikers become even more efficient when out in the hills.

Our first session took place at a set of stairs, beginning with the basics. Each week we have layered skills and practice, building confidence and momentum along the way. This week we took to the trails to put all we had learnt into practice.

We are incredibly grateful to Loïc for sharing his knowledge and experience with us - who knew there was so much you could do with hiking poles! A huge 'thank you' also goes to Loïc’s friends and supporters - thanks to you our advanced hikers will have their own, brand new hiking poles.

We cannot wait to continue to hone our skills out on the trails and are looking forward to our refresher sessions in the build up to race season 💙 🤝

Amanda and Loz Take on the Final Leg of Their Double Happiness Challenge . .
This Sunday, Amanda and Loz will embark on the second and final race of their ‘Double Happiness Challenge’—a gruelling 230km ultramarathon over 6 days in Uzbekistan. This race marks the culmination of their incredible efforts to raise funds and awareness for RUN Hong Kong (as they have passionately supported for over a decade!)

Back in December, Amanda completed the first leg of their challenge in Cambodia, covering 220km over 6 days and Loz joined as a volunteer due to an injury. Now, they are ready to push their limits together again, bringing their total distance to an astonishing 450km across two ultramarathons.

Why They’re Running
Amanda and Loz are running to support RUN Hong Kong, as we continue to support the empowerment of refugees through sports and education. We provide refugees with the tools to rebuild their lives, offering dignity, hope, and a sense of community.

Their challenge is not just about kilometres—it’s about making a tangible difference in the lives of those who need it most.

How You Can Support?
As Amanda and Loz prepare to take on this monumental race, we invite you to join them in their mission:

📣 Spread the Word: Share their story and help amplify their impact.
👀 Follow their Progress: You can track the race here https://www.global-limits.com/usbeskistan/race-update/results
