[Independent Living: Exploring New Ingredients in the Kitchen 🍳🦑🍆]
In our cooking lessons👨🏼🍳👩🏼🍳, we take turns handling different ingredients🥒🥕, giving everyone the opportunity to practise new skills and build confidence💪🏻 in the kitchen.
Recently, we’ve been exploring healthier and less familiar foods, such as eggplants🍆 and squid🦑. We learned how to wash, prepare and cook them safely while discussing their texture🖐🏻, taste😋 and nutritional benefits💪🏻.
Some of us felt unsure🤔 about trying these ingredients at first, but after tasting the finished dishes, we discovered new foods we enjoyed😋😻. It was a great reminder that being open to new foods is an important part of healthy eating💪🏻.
Step by step, we are building cooking skills, confidence, independence and healthy habits for everyday life🙌🏻🤩.
