Our African Art Jamming – Fashion Textile & Beadwork Workshop came to a beautiful close, and we are still buzzing from all the energy in the room. From bold fabric patterns to intricately beaded accessories, our participants truly expressed their artistic sides and we were absolutely amazed by just how creative and skillful everyone was!

But beyond the art, something even more special happened. Participants got to interact, share stories, and build genuine relationships, not just with us, but with each other. Strangers became friends over shared laughter, new techniques, and delicious African snacks. 🤝🍲

This is what a community looks like. A community built on culture, art, and diversity. Hong Kong is home to so many people from different cultures and backgrounds, and more. And through art, we found a common language. We bonded, we learned from one another, and we proved that creativity has no borders.

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do – to build bridges, celebrate our differences, and bring people together in the most meaningful way.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this day so memorable. You are the heart of this community! ❤️

Stay tuned for our next workshop; we can't wait to create with you again.

Swipe through to see the highlights from our Southern African Lunch! We took our guests on a sensory journey through Southern Africa, serving up hearty dishes like Sadza and Chakalaka, followed by an electrifying drumming workshop. 🪘

There's nothing quite like the sound of a djembe to bring people together! We loved seeing our guests connect with the culture and with each other. This is the heart of our mission, uniting the local community with the African diaspora right here in Hong Kong.

We have countless other events like this, so make sure to follow us and come join us at our center for the next one. We would love to see you there! 🇭🇰❤️🌍

"Bringing Africa to Asia", that's the title of this powerful video created by students from the PRAO2047 Media Design class at 香港浸會大學傳理學院 HKBU School of Communication. This is just one of the many impactful projects made by different groups who came through our doors, each bringing their own lens and energy to document our work.

Anesu and Eric sat down with this group to share their experiences, their journeys, and the heartbeat behind what we do every day. Through their lens, they captured what truly drives us: the commitment to Rebranding Blackness, the power of Bridging Communities, and the urgency of fostering Black Consciousness right here in Hong Kong. This isn't just about representation; it's about action. And watching these students pour their creativity and curiosity into amplifying our mission reminded us why storytelling matters.

Thank you for trusting us with your time, your talent, and your vision. You didn't just make videos; you became part of our story. We can't wait to see the changemakers you'll become.

Community, culture, and creativity came alive. 🎨✨

Yesterday, we turned fabric into conversation in our Bògòlanfini Tote Bag Workshop. From decoding the resilience of the fishbone to the adaptability of the chameleon, we explored the living alphabet of Malian mudcloth. But the true masterpiece wasn't just the bags we painted, it was the connections we wove. 🇲🇱

Our icebreaker wasn't just an introduction; it was a moment of genuine interaction where stories flowed as freely as the paint. We saw our participants embrace the beauty of West African artistry, translating their personal journeys and future aspirations onto a totebag canvas. From bold symbols to vibrant colors, everyone truly expressed their artistic side. 🖌️

This workshop was a testament to the power of togetherness, proving that when we embrace culture and prioritize social connection, we build a stronger, more united Hong Kong.

A huge thank you to everyone who showed up, shared their energy, and created wearable art with us. Your stories matter, and we can't wait to see where you carry your new "one-of-a-kind tote bags”! 👜🌍

The TOUCH Support Service Center for Ethnic Minorities Summer Carnival 2026 was a celebration of unity, culture, and connection, and Africa Center HK was honoured to be part of it. 🥁✨

We took the stage with music, African drumming, magic, and dance, delivering interactive performances that had over 200 audience members clapping, moving, and smiling along with us. The energy was unforgettable, and the joy was shared by all.

But the spirit of community did not end there. After the carnival, we partnered with the Toastmasters Club for two powerful 10-minute sessions, sparking conversations on leadership and communication that carried the day's momentum forward.

At Africa Center HK, we believe that community building in Hong Kong thrives on genuine partnerships. That is why we actively attend events like these, to help strengthen connections, celebrate diversity, and support the vital work of NGOs like TOUCH who share our vision of an inclusive Hong Kong.

Here is to more events, more partnerships, and more moments that bring us all closer together.

A Journey to Ancient Egypt, Right Here in Hong Kong! 🇪🇬✨

Last weekend, we had the incredible opportunity to step back in time and explore the wonders of ancient Egyptian culture at the Egyptian Hieroglyphic Art Workshop.

It was a deep dive into one of the world's most fascinating civilizations. We learned about the history behind hieroglyphic writing, decoded the phonetic symbols, and discovered how to write our own names just like the ancient scribes did thousands of years ago! 📜✍️

Beyond the history and art, it was a beautiful reminder of how cultural learning brings us together. We connected with fellow participants of Hong Kong, all united by curiosity and a shared love for discovery. ❤️🤝 And of course, no cultural experience is complete without food! We were delighted to enjoy Roz bel Laban (Egyptian rice pudding), alongside delicious African plantain, making the afternoon even more memorable. 🍚🍌

Whether you're an art lover, a history buff, or simply someone who enjoys meeting new people and embracing different cultures, this workshop was a perfect example of how diversity, togetherness, and community can flourish through shared experiences.

If you ever get a chance to join one of our events, don't hesitate! Let's continue to bridge communities, celebrate diversity, and learn from one another. 🌟
