[CPD Event] Northern Metropolis Forum 4.0 (Session 2)

We are pleased to announce that Session 2 of the Fourth Forum on the Joint Institutes Northern Metropolis (NM Forum 4.0) will be held on 24 October 2026.

NM Forum 4.0 Session 1 attracted over 500 attendees in total from around the world, including 170 participants who joined in person at City Gallery, Hong Kong, on 5 September 2026.

The objection remains to explore the latest developments in the Northern Metropolis, with a continued focus on creating a sustainable future.

[👨🏻‍💻CPD Event] Register for IFLA World Congress 2026 and Technical Tours!

Organized by IFLA, IFLA Asia Pacific Region and The Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects (HKILA), the IFLA World and Asia-Pacific Regional Congress 2026 will take place in Hong Kong, China, from 28-30 October 2026 under the theme of “Liminal Landscapes: Shifting Boundaries of Watersheds and Coastlines”. This landmark event will feature inspiring keynote speeches, plenary sessions, presentations, exhibitions and social networking events. As part of the Congress side programme held on 31 October 2026, the technical tours would showcase the vibrant landscapes and exemplary projects in Hong Kong.

🌏 The International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) World Congress is the largest international event dedicated to landscape architecture profession, welcoming over 120 delegates from more than 82 countries and regions with more than 1,500 international and local participants, including cross-disciplinary practitioners, researchers, educators, businesses and students. The Congress will provide a dynamic platform for landscape architects and IFLA’s professional partners worldwide to exchange knowledge, foster collaboration, and build lasting networks.

🌿 Milestone for Nature-based Solutions at ! 🌍

The HKILA is proud to have collaborated with TNC HK 大自然保護協會The Nature Conservancy, Columbia Climate School, and key regional partners to launch our latest report: “A Resilient Greater Bay Area: Accelerating a Landscape-Scale Resilience Portfolio and Collaboration Model for the Shenzhen River Basin and Deep Bay.”

Presented during Climate Week NYC, this publication highlights how watershed-scale planning, cross-boundary collaboration, and innovative financing can scale up Nature-based Solutions (NbS) to boost climate and biodiversity resilience across the Shenzhen River Basin and Deep Bay.

From tidal fishpond and forest restoration pilots to cross-border knowledge exchanges, we are moving from vision to action—building a climate-resilient future for the Greater Bay Area together.

🌳[Event Recap - Urban Mini-Forest Visit on National Ecology Day]🌳

HKILA and CEDD celebrates the National Ecology Day with a technical visit to our pilot Urban Mini Forest on 31 August 2026!

Friends in the industry was invited, including Hon Julia LAU Man-kwan, JP and Prof. WONG Kam-Sing GBS, JP, to share the encouraging interim result of the UMF upon the 1.5 years of establishment.

Over the past 1.5 year, it was recorded that:

🦋 Biodiversity increased, over 30 species was found in the UMF 📈
🌳 Biomass increased by 300% 📈

These key insights reinforce the core principle of “coexistence between human and nature” within Nature-based Solutions. By creating spaces where the urban and the natural environment integrate, we balance human activity with ecological needs to maximize societal benefits. 🌱

We also thank everyone who joined us in this journey of enhancing the nature space in Hong Kong. Let’s look forward to seeing the Urban Mini-Forest continue to thrive and carrying this sustainable concept forward into other developments across the Northern Metropolis and the Urban of Hong Kong. 🍃✨
