This book is a collection of all the important Oboe, Oboe d'amore and Cor anglais solos and duets from the major choral works of J.S. Bach, with notes on each piece by the highly respected UK oboe/cor anglais player and teacher, Geoffrey Browne (author of The Art of Cor Anglais).

33 different pieces/first and second parts are included from the St Matthew Passion BWV 244, St John Passion BWV 245, Magnificat BWV 243, Mass in B Minor BWV 232, and Christmas Oratorio BWV 248.

Detalle de la campana de un oboe realizado hacia 1700 en el taller holandés de Willem Beukers. Madera de boj, llaves de plata y anillos de marfil. The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) Londres.

ℹ Este instrumento único se adorna con bajorrelieves de motivos vegetales a lo largo del cuerpo y dos escenas musicales en la campana: una pareja danzando junto a un violinista y el grupo que aquí se muestra, instrumentistas de viento tocando alrededor de una mesa, algo muy habitual en la época. Se trata de una “banda de oboes”, cuarteto barroco formado por instrumentos de doble lengüeta: dos oboes, un oboe tenor (taille) y un f***t.
