Celebrating a Year of Peace in Action! 🕊️

For half a decade, the UNESCO HKA Glocal Peace Centre has dedicated itself to the Peace School Programme, anchoring our efforts in UNESCO’s foundational vision: “building peace in the minds of men and women.”

☮️ On June 24th, the Peace School Assembly 2025/26 brought together over 220 educators, professionals, community members, school sponsoring bodies and school representatives. A total of 23 schools from local and Macau participated to celebrate remarkable strides toward Peace and Sustainability.

🎨 Inspiring Dialogue
A highlight of the event was the School Exchange Session, intentionally designed to foster deep interaction among participants. It was inspiring to see how schools brought their peace initiatives to life through diverse and innovative media to share their journeys.

🏆 Recognising Impact
To honour the exceptional dedication of our Peace Schools, we presented the “Outstanding Action for Peace Award” once again. During the Peace Action Showcase, schools displayed impactful projects rooted in our four core pillars, demonstrating how these core values can be seamlessly woven into campus life.

💡 Insightful Conversations
During the fireside chat, speakers shared invaluable wisdom on navigating conflict with empathy and explored how integrating peace-themed literature can build a collaborative bridge between teachers, parents, students, and the wider community.

🙌 We extend our gratitude to Ocean Park Hong Kong for providing a wonderful venue and sharing how their conservation education aligns with GPC’s 5 Aspects of Peace. Their work serves as a powerful reminder that building harmony includes a commitment to protecting our natural world.

👀 🎉 Looking Ahead
We concluded the event by inviting all participants to the kickoff of the 2026/27 Peace School Programme. Let’s keep peace in our hearts as we continue our mission of empowering positive peacebuilders, cultivating youth peace and positive values, supporting teachers' professional development, and fostering harmony in an interconnected world.

It’s that time of the year! We are looking back on an incredible journey with our partner schools as we host the Peace School Assembly. 🕊️

This special event is the grand finale of the 2025/26 Peace School Programme, dedicated to honoring the amazing progress our schools have made in nurturing positive values in the next generation.

What is the Assembly all about?
It is a celebration of the commitment our schools have shown to building a culture of peace. Throughout the year, these institutions have gone above and beyond to integrate peacebuilding into their daily life—using it as a cross-curricular theme to foster cooperation, empathy, and creative problem-solving among their students. 💡

We are proud of the dedication shown by our Peace Schools! Thank you for being such an essential part of this movement to build peace in the minds of young people. 🌎💙

由 #非物質文化遺產辦事處 主辦， #香港聯合國教科文組織協會 籌劃，康樂及文化事務署非物質文化遺產資助計劃資助新一輪嘅「非遺大本營」教育活動開展咗啦！由即日起開放報名2026年9月至2027年2月嘅學生教育活動，名額有限，先到先得。

「非遺大本營」為幼稚園、小學、中學度身訂造一系列多元化嘅非遺教育活動，讓學生喺香港非物質文化遺產中心動動手認識本地非遺，探索傳統歷史文化，欣賞非遺嘅珍貴價值，傳承非遺。

At Victoria Shanghai Academy, our students are the drivers behind Peace Learning. Our student-led club, VSA Reach Out, do inspiring community service - most notably, their long-term relationship with Aberdeen Kai-Fong Association. This year, they once again held their Halloween Haunted House for children at the AKA Community Center, led a whole school Animal Awareness Week, hosted beach clean-ups and participated in an elderly workshop. While the sustainable development goals are already linked throughout our curriculum, we celebrated them in more depth with an Earth Week with numerous guest speakers, field trips, a fund-raising
dress-down day (for Ocean Park Conservation Foundation) and workshops. To facilitate cultures and actions for peace, our 15th Annual VSA Model United Nations Conference, with over 250 delegates from various schools, enabled students to engage deeply with peace learning. Finally, to celebrate International Women’s Day, the entire school participated in Women’s Week: Discover to Empower. With engaging guest speakers, workshops and a fund-raising dress-down day (for HELP for Domestic Workers and PathFinders), the entire secondary school and staff were able to celebrate this UN International Day. We are immensely proud of the dedication and commitment of our school to further peace in our community and beyond.

To promote racial inclusion, the following activities were designed to introduce students to Hong Kong's diverse ethnic minority cultures:
為促進種族共融，我們舉辦了以下活動向學生介紹香港少數族裔文化： 1. Southeast Asian Traditional Clothing Experience 南亞文化服飾體驗
2. Making Mosaic Coasters 馬賽克杯墊製作
3. Exploring Pakistani Culture Through Urdu Bookmarks
巴基斯坦文化 - 烏都語書籤製作
4. Inter-class Kahoot Quiz 班際 Kahoot 比賽
Each junior-form class was invited to send three representatives to join the quiz. The questions covered the Racial Discrimination Ordinance, the United Nations, local ethnic minorities, and global economic trends.
各初中班級獲邀派出三名代表參加班際 Kahoot 比賽。題目圍繞香港的《種族歧視條例》、聯合國、香港少數族裔及全球經濟趨勢。

🍚米粒大使行動🕊️

目的 (Aims)： 旨在善用深水埗舊樓的天台閒置空間，讓年輕一代參與社區營造。從青年的角度出發，與舊區街坊共同探討天台活化的可能性，從而改善鄰里關係，為舊區注入新活力。

內容 (Content)： 本校學生參與實地探訪深水埗長安大廈及兩洲大廈。學生們逐戶拜訪當區居民，聆聽他們的實際需求，並齊心發揮創意，提出多個天台活化方案，例如增設晾衣區、休閒花園、甚至加入長者喜愛的粵劇元素等，打造跨代共融的「鄰里客廳」。

參與情況 (Participation)： 本校學生（如伍詠琪、劉宇萍等同學）積極投入社區事務，與當區居民進行了深入的交流與討論，獲得街坊的熱情回應。

果效 (Outcomes)： 透過親身參與，學生不僅加深了對香港樓宇現況及基層民生需求的了解，更獲得了建設社區的成就感。活動成功促進了社區內的「社會和平」與「良好的鄰里關係」，讓居民感受到社區的關懷與溫暖，同時有效培養了學生作為公民的責任感與助人精神。
