Five cadets from our Squadron journeyed to Shanghai for the National Education Study Course 2026, co-organised by the Government Flying Service. 🛰️ Through visits to No. 1 Flying Service of the East China Sea, COMAC C919 Assembly Line, and Shanghai Aerospace Museum, they explored new horizons, deepened national understanding, and carried home inspiration to let their aviation dreams soar higher. 💫

“Into the Sergeants’ Mess” 🔖
The promotion of Sgt LI Pak Hong Rafi to the rank of Cadet Sergeant marks a proud milestone as he crosses the threshold into the ranks of Senior Non-commissioned Officers. In this still-new chapter with the Squadron, Rafi carries forward the experience gathered across changing horizons and steps into greater responsibility. ✨ We also congratulate him on achieving the First Clasp of the Cadet Community Services Achievement Ribbon, recognising over 500 hours of community service. May he continue to serve with heart, standing firm in his own light, and let his actions speak through the bearing he sets among his fellows.

From the ancient walls of Beijing to the vibrant heart of Changsha, cadets from our Squadron embarked on a journey of discovery across history, culture and innovation. 🏛️ Standing beneath the flag at Tiananmen, walking the Great Wall, and exploring the spirit of Yuelu and Orange Isle, they gained a deeper appreciation of the nation’s heritage, progress and enduring vitality, alongside cadets across thirteen uniformed groups. 🎋

*International Air Cadet Exchange* 🇫🇷
Montpellier brought the programme to a graceful close, as FS CHEUNG Hou Ming took part in a memorable VFR flight at the Montpellier Air Club in a DA20. 🌤️ Flying over southern France offered a fitting final aviation experience, bringing together the knowledge, inspiration and passion for flight developed throughout the exchange.

The journey then returned to Paris, where a farewell dinner marked the close of the programme and provided a meaningful opportunity to reflect on the friendships and experiences shared along the way. As the exchange drew to an end, the memories rose like the Ballon de Paris above Parc André-Citroën — carrying the spirit of the journey gently over the city, and leaving a lasting view of France from above. 🌆

*International Air Cadet Exchange* 🇯🇵
The final stage of FS LUI Wai Fung in Japan brought further cultural discovery through visits to the Morioka History and Culture Museum and Nikko Toshogu Shrine. ⛩️ These destinations offered a deeper appreciation of Japanese history, heritage and traditional craftsmanship, adding a meaningful cultural dimension to the aviation-focused exchange.

Special acknowledgement is extended to Mr Tachizawa and Ms Junko for their warm hospitality and dedicated support as hosts. Like the gentle afterglow of a Japanese summer evening, their kindness brought a heartfelt close to the journey, leaving treasured memories of friendship, culture and shared understanding. 🌅

*International Air Cadet Exchange* 🇫🇷
FS CHEUNG Hou Ming further developed his exchange experience in France through a range of aviation and cultural activities in Bordeaux and Toulouse. In Bordeaux, he visited a French Air Force base and TARMAC Aerosave, gaining valuable exposure to military aviation operations and the processes involved in aircraft storage, maintenance, dismantling and recycling. 🛩️ Rafting also formed part of the programme, adding a memorable outdoor element to his time in the region.

In Toulouse, the focus turned to the city’s strong aviation heritage, with visits to Aeroscopia Museum and ENAC – École Nationale de l’Aviation Civile. 🎓 These experiences further enhanced his understanding of France’s aviation sector, while also adding cultural and experiential depth to his International Air Cadet Exchange journey.

FS LUI Wai Fung continued his exchange programme in Japan with further aviation and educational engagements. A visit to the Miyagi Prefecture Air Rescue Team at Semine Airfield offered valuable exposure to aerial emergency response and rescue operations, while the visit to Miyagi Prefectural Tsukidate High School provided an opportunity for meaningful interaction with local students and insight into school life in Japan. 🚁

The programme also featured a high school baseball match, a Morioka cultural experience and the Sumida River Fireworks Festival. 🎆 These activities showcased different aspects of Japanese community life, traditions and urban culture, further broadening his understanding of the country and enriching his International Air Cadet Exchange journey.

Cadets from our Squadron continued serving as Local Escorts, accompanying overseas delegates on a diverse programme of aviation and cultural experiences. Aviation‑related visits included the Airport Fire Station and HAECO, offering insights into operational readiness and aircraft maintenance. 🔧 The delegation also explored local landmarks and heritage sites, along with more destinations across the city and beyond, including a tour to Shenzhen and Zhongshan in the Chinese Mainland. 🏙️
