微波國際新媒體藝術節(Microwave)成立於1996年，是為國際同類型的藝術節先鋒之一。藝術節銳意把世界各地最前線的科技透過新媒體藝術、動畫及短片的模式帶來香港。

Microwave began in 1996 and has evolved to become the first and only art festival in Hong Kong dedicated to new media art. Microwave has steadily grown into a well-established festival that brings cutting-edge works to provoke thought in the technological hub every year. Apart from the grand annual festival, Microwave also endeavours to nurture a rising local new media arts community, organising various programmes such as competitions, educational workshops, seminars, forums, exhibitions, and producing quality projects. Microwave will continue our hard work to inspire Hong Kong and the rest of the world with the cutting-edge media artworks we gather, while also avidly supporting the exchange and dialogue between artists, professionals, and the general public.

除了每年一度的藝術節，Microwave將繼續把世界各地的尖端新媒體的作品帶到香港，亦致力培育本地新媒體藝術團體，希望透過舉辦各種活動，如比賽，教育講座，研討會，論壇，展覽和其他高品質的項目，將香港市民和新媒體藝術拉得更近。

What can curating become when art, technology, and critical thinking meet?
Meet three more guests from The Conversations:
Ana-Maria Carabelea .cara｜London-based writer, cultural strategist, curator, and podcast producer. Her work explores new media art, critical inquiry, and world-building.
Escher Tsai ｜Taiwan-based curator, producer, and media art practitioner. He is the Founder of Hello World and Creative Director of Dimension Plus, where he leads art-tech projects and media art initiatives.
Adrian Christopher Notz ｜Zurich-based curator and lecturer working across art, technology, science, and AI. His recent projects include After the Algorithm Festival, AAA Experiments, and the Art Encounters Biennial.
Together, they explore how curatorial practice can connect technology, communities, and new creative ecosystems.

Three international voices. One conversation about the future of media art curation.
Meet three guests from The Conversations:
Pavel Mrkus｜Czech audiovisual artist and curator working across digital images, sound, spatial design, and time-based media. He has exhibited at the Venice Biennale and has served as Head Curator of Prague’s Signal Festival since 2023.
Jang Mihyun｜Curator and producer at Korea’s National Asian Culture Center, working across art, science, technology, immersive media, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
SenSend｜Shanghai-based media art curator and Director of the International Art & Science Research Institute. She is also Chief Curator of the 2026–2027 Shenzhen New Media Art Festival.
Together, they explore how media art curation can connect technology, public space, and new forms of collaboration.

How is technology reshaping the curator’s role?
The Conversations brings together international media art curators and creative practitioners to explore the impact of AI, immersive technologies, and digital platforms on curatorial practice.
Hosted by Dr. Vennes Cheng , a Hong Kong-based scholar, curator, and educator, the series opens up a transregional space for dialogue and exchange.
Dr. Cheng teaches at HKUST’s Division of Arts and Machine Creativity. She was formerly an Associate Curator at M+ and a research fellow at documenta institut. Her work explores contemporary art, archival practices, and how AI and XR can reshape our understanding of memory and truth.

科技正如何重塑策展人的角色？
《The Conversations 國際媒體藝術策展對談系列》匯聚來自不同地區的媒體藝術策展人及創意工作者，探討 AI、沉浸式技術及數位平台如何推動策展實踐持續演變。
本系列由鄭秀慧博士主持。她是香港學者、策展人及教育工作者，現任教於香港科技大學藝術與機器創造力學部，曾任 M+ 副策展人及 documenta institut 研究員。
她的研究聚焦當代藝術、檔案實踐，以及 AI 與 XR 如何重新塑造我們對記憶與真實的理解。

Open Call: Join the Young Media Art Curator Training Program!

Microwave has long been dedicated to promote the development of media art in Hong Kong, and this program is a mentorship initiative designed to connect research in the field of media art with professional practices. We are now openly recruiting aspiring individuals who are passionate about media art curation.

The program includes:
🎓 Online Mentorship: Each participant will be paired with an experienced international curator who will provide guidance on addressing the various complexities involved in curating media art.
🤝 Workshop: Participate in a two-day in-person workshop to deepen curatorial skills and foster collaboration and exchange.
🏆 Exhibition Opportunity: Participants will gain hands-on experience by taking part in the planning and realization of a professional exhibition.

Eligibility:
Current students and recent graduates are welcome to apply. We are looking for young talents who are eager to challenge traditional curatorial models and passionate about exploring the intersection of art and technology.

How to Apply:
Please email your CV and/or portfolio to [email protected] on or before July 31, 2026 for consideration.

Program Timeline:

項目包括：
🎓 線上指導：每位參與者將配對一位資深國際策展人，指導處理媒體藝術策展中的各項複雜課題。
🤝 工作坊：參加為期兩天的實體工作坊，以深化策展技巧、促進協作交流。
🏆 展覽機會：參與者將獲得實踐機會，參與策動專業展覽。
