HK Explorers Initiative The HKEI encourages people to get outside and appreciate the city's wild side. Supported by the National Geographic Society.

The Hong Kong Explorers Initiative's aim is to encourage people to explore Hong Kong's wilderness by crowdsourcing an online database of Hong Kong's plants, insects and animals, with a special focus on endemic species--those found nowhere else in the world. Hong Kong, with its land only 25% developed and 40% protected, features an amazing biodiversity that few appreciate fully. The HKEI hopes that the people of Hong Kong will come to love the city's wild side as much as we do.
