🎉 Full house at the IMechE Hong Kong Route to Membership Seminar

We were delighted to welcome a full house of aspiring CEng candidates. The evening was packed with practical insights on professional registration, membership applications and Professional Review Interview (PRI) preparation from experienced facilitators.

A big thank you to Mr Zen Teng, IMechE Membership Development Manager, Global for sharing insights on the membership and registration process, and to Mr Louis Szeto and Mr W.K. Chow, PRI Interview Facilitators, for sharing their perspectives on how candidates can best prepare for the Professional Review Interview.

The journey doesn't stop here. Join us for CEng Application Writing Workshop on 23 September, where we will focus on developing a strong and compelling CEng application.

Technical Visit to Organic Resources Recovery Centre Phase 2 (O·PARK2)🌱🏭

Our members had a great time visiting O·PARK2 on 1 August 2026 and getting an up-close look at the city’s newest food waste treatment facility.

During the visit, participants gained a better understanding of how the facility operates from start to finish — from the weighbridge and unloading bay, through the crusher and pre-treatment stages, to the anaerobic digestion and biogas production. Members also visited the control room to understand the sophisticated control system that manages the entire plant.

The upgraded design also reflects lessons learned from previous experience, with improved treatment capacity, operational efficiency and odour control. The visit further highlighted the plant’s wastewater treatment approach, including the use of ANAMMOX biological treatment for ammonia removal, offering a more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly solution compared with conventional ammonia stripping.

It was an excellent opportunity for our members to explore sustainable food waste management, process optimisation and practical engineering improvements in action. ♻️
