🔴 **RVC Nepal Rasuwa Flood Emergency Response**
On August 26, severe floods and landslides struck several areas in northern Nepal. Following the disaster, Rainbow Volunteer Club (RVC) immediately launched its humanitarian response in Nepal and has remained in close contact with local partners, communities, and volunteers to understand the evolving situation and the most urgent needs.
On September 1, RVC staff and volunteers set out from Kathmandu with relief supplies for the severely affected Nuwakot District. Due to damaged roads and bridges, the original route was disrupted several times, requiring the team to repeatedly adjust its journey. After approximately 16 hours of travel, the team arrived in the affected community of Mandre Dhunga that evening.
As of today, RVC has provided **two days of community hot meals**, conducted field visits and needs assessments in several affected communities, and continued providing support to children at temporary shelters. We are also assessing needs for the next phase, including **children’s education, psychosocial support, and longer-term recovery**.
On the evening of September 4, at our community meal site, Ramita finally sat down with her three children again and fed them herself.
For nine long days, the three children of the Rai family had been separated from their parents after becoming stranded on the other side of the river when the floods struck. On the morning of September 4, they began their journey home, travelling for nearly 12 hours before finally being reunited with their family.
The children were overjoyed and kept saying, **“I want to sleep with Mum!”**
For the RVC team, the day ended with one of the most meaningful moments we could have witnessed: **a family reunited after nine days apart.**
The response continues.
We hope to keep basic support going, help children continue learning and feel supported, and stand alongside affected families as they slowly rebuild their lives.
**RVC will remain on the ground — listening, responding, and walking alongside communities as they begin to rebuild, one step at a time. We will continue doing our best to make this response as meaningful and impactful as possible.** 🌈🙏❤️
