We are glad to announce that the signing of MOU between PDD of HKIS and Shanghai Urban Planning Trade Association (上海市城市规划行业协） has been completed.

The consent of agreement by both parties was approved in 2024, due to handover of new term from the Shanghai Party happened in late 2024, the whole process was delayed a little bit and spilt into two parts.

A courtesy visit by PDD council to Shanghai was held on 24 Jan 2025, there was a fruitful discussion about the town planning framework and the experience sharing on urban redevelopment, we are looking forward to have more collaborations in the future. We also took the opportunity to visit 上海市統戰部 for an early Chinese New Year greeting in the evening.

We are proudly to announce that the Planning and Development Division (PDD) 20th Anniversary Commemorative Publication were issued on 14 November 2024.

The publication recorded the early history, major events, and the PDD’s development over its first two decades. It also featured two interviews covering the roles of PD surveyors and the career developments of three surveyors from different age groups and perspectives.

During the casual talk with members who hailed from the different divisions, I noticed that some were unfamiliar with the PDD’s formation in 2004, so they might have assumed that it was originally part of a GPD subdivision. In fact, the PDD has a long history and existed even before the HKIS was established in 1984.

I would take this opportunity to share with members / friends of PDD's past, present, and future in the following three episodes.
