When someone tells you what’s worrying them, do you find yourself offering advice?
As a volunteer, Karman has learnt to listen first, rather than rush to offer answers.
They may want to talk about how they feel. We don’t yet know the full story.
You could ask, “How is that making you feel?”
We’re used to giving advice and trying to solve problems.
Sometimes, someone simply wants you to spend a little time with them and listen.
Give them time to talk at their own pace.
Save this film, or share it with a friend who wants to become a better listener.
