PANDA is a completely student-run non-profit organization founded by 4 international school students in Hong Kong. As avid members of a diverse community, every day we see and learn about individuals who are discriminated against due to race, religion, sexual orientation and appearance among other traits by people such as their classmates, their peers, sometimes even strangers. Discrimination is n
ot limited to mindlessly throwing around racial slurs: bullying, a behavior that often occurs in schools, is a form of discrimination against the victim. People discriminate others mostly because they do not realize the profoundly harmful effects of their actions. However, being exposed to many different cases of bullying and discrimination, we have learned about the drastic consequences that such behavior may cause to the victims, with some victims suffering from severe depression, and some even resorting to self-harm in order to escape from the painful world they are put through by those who choose to discriminate. Furthermore, we know that such issues are even more concerning in other areas of the world than in the place we live in. Therefore, we feel compelled to take action to help empower the victims who suffer from oppression through raising awareness for discrimination worldwide as well as providing support for the victims. With the help of volunteers who support the stand we are taking, we hope to create a strong movement against discrimination across the world.
