🥰What an uplifting Toastmasters meeting last night!

💥President Louis kicked off the meeting around the theme ‘Comfort with Discomfort’. He shared the ET framework: E for Enjoyment, T for Take Action, challenging us to go beyond mere imagination, step out of our comfort zones, and take purposeful action to grow!

🗣️Our TME Jaime hosted the evening with great poise and energy. TTM Peggy delivered engaging impromptu prompts, sparking genuine, heartfelt sharing from Aurora, Patricia, guest Michelle and Anne.

Huge shout‑out to our amazing facilitation team, who brought so much heart to their roles!
✅ Timer Team Irene & Nideem won the Most Enthusiastic Award for their fantastic teamwork.
✅ Ah‑Counter Patricia crafted a creative leaf‑shaped chart to categorise filler words for everyone.
✅ Language Master Aurora featured our Power Word of the Day — Fortitude, carefully listening to spot how members used the word and calling out standout phrases.
✅ Hospitality host Anne gave a warm welcome to four visiting guests.

We were treated to three wonderful prepared speeches:
😍Lily delivered her Icebreaker, opening up about why she can barely “Slow Down” and her ambition to grow her public‑speaking skills.
🥰Finnie presented “Beyond the Scorecard”, offering thoughtful insights that go far beyond surface‑level numbers.
🥰Jacky transported us to Paris with “ The Sun That Never Sets “, sharing vivid, immersive travel stories.

😘Table Topics Evaluator Ivy delivered encouraging feedback, breaking down frameworks like SDG and PREP. Our three Individual Evaluators gave well‑balanced, practical input, blending sincere praise with actionable growth suggestions.

🥰General Evaluator Mon reminded all TMEs to follow the POETS format for speaker introductions, and left us with a powerful closing thought: While comfort is easy, excellence in public speaking requires fortitude — the courage to embrace the discomfort of constructive feedback.

💖Grateful to every member, role‑taker and guest who stepped outside their comfort zones and made this night memorable. 🙌

😄What a pause and a fresh start taught us on 22 July!

At Hong Kong Island Toastmasters Club, our latest meeting under the theme Breath, Pause, Power reminded us why stepping onto the stage is so transformative.

💖Beyond taking the stage for his Icebreaker, Jude, along with Lily, was inducted into our club by William (who did double duty as TTM and VPM!). To pledge our full support for Jude and Lily, the entire room sang our club song to give them the warmest welcome! 🎶

🎤 Four Table Topics speakers—Ivy, Aurora, Tracy, and guest Henry—stepped up to tackle questions with confidence and wit. Ivy won Best Speaker for her sharing on the power of patience.

🗣️ Jude then delivered his Icebreaker speech, "Down Under", opening up about his journey and taking that monumental first step on the Toastmasters stage. Right after, Mon shared a personal story showing how taking a simple 3-second pause defused a heated family crisis.

⭐ General Evaluator Ivy clearly pointed out the requirements of each meeting role and inspired us on how to uphold high standards to elevate the experience for everyone. The room was filled with insights that extend far beyond public speaking.

President Louis encouraged all members to sign up for the upcoming Club Officers Training (COT) on 25 July 2026 and presented awards to the night's best performers:
