💡18 August Meeting Highlights:

🙆🏻‍♂️We successfully hosted an inspiring meeting themed Perspective-Taking Role Play.🙆🏻‍♀️

Our President, Cindy Ng, officially kicked off the meeting, shared a practical one-minute speaking trick on how to deliver an impressive self-introduction, offering simple effective tips for all members to upgrade their public speaking skills.😚

Josie James, with her energetic hosting style, she set a vibrant and engaging tone for the entire session as TME.😀

The meeting started with a fun Pictionary game led by President Cindy. Members fully utilised their creativity and imagination, enjoying the relaxing interactive warm-up activity.☺️

Next, Irene delivered a prepared speech titled Celebrate Success and Move Forward. She shared valuable insights regarding efficient meeting operation, bringing plenty of takeaways to the audience.😉

Crystal Cheung took charge of the Table Topics session, designing thoughtful topics connected to the theme. The impromptu sharing was highly engaging, each participants gained inspiration and positive reflection.😇

The highlight was our exclusive session, “Perspective-Taking Role Play”🤩, hosted by President Cindy. She designed a workplace scenario and assigned each of us a role. Based on our assigned identity, we delivered speech, followed by open debate and cross-questioning. We truly practised multi-angle analysis, as well as developed various perspective in communication.😙

For our evaluator team, Rinzin Chodor provided precise feedback for Irene’s prepared speech. Collin Yu, the Table Topics Evaluator, demonstrated excellent active listening skills and delivered encouraging comments for all impromptu speakers.🤓

Sincere thanks to our facilitators: Crystal Cheung (Timer & Ah Counter) and Shirley Tsang (Grammarian). Both of them performed detailed observation, offered valuable learning for future improvement.🥰

💁🏻‍♀️Cindy Ng, the President, leading the game “9 upper”, letting everyone in the room so intoxicated with joy, mixing a combination of creative thinking and laughter among us.😆😆😆

👦🏻Collin Yu, storytellering his Shanghai trip🌇, through his story, he recalled audiences their Shanghai trip once upon a time.😌

Shirley Tsang, storytelling her Busan trip🏞️, instilling some humorous stories happened during her trip, the room had once again filled with laughter.🤣

In Table Topics session, Cindy Ng converted it into a debate session, challenging everyone ideas, practising their witty impromptu retort.😇😇

KF Tam, evalauating Collin’s speech with wise recommendations, also recalled his feelings on his Shanghai trip before, such a coincidence!😄😄

Irene Kwok, evaluating Shirley’s speech, prasing her humor and storytelling skills, everyone is agreeing with it by nodding their head!😉😉

Henry Chan, as a Table Topics Evaluator, praising Cindy about her innovative idea on debate session, what a great educational start!😄😄

We were so honored to have 3 guests to join our meeting:

🧑🏻‍💼Leo Kwok, also the VPE of Oasis Toastmasters Club and Assistant of Division O Director. He managed to conquer his General Evaluator role by evaluating all of our performance and giving feedback for overall meeting😄, such accomplishments had earned us a big big round of applause!!👏🏻👏🏻

After the meeting, we went to Chiuchow Garden to have dinner, and it’s also the Birthday month of KF Tam, our VPE, let’s wish him a Happy Birthday.🎂🎉🎊

🍪 *Theme: National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day*🍪

4 August is National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day 📅, and it coincides with our Ocean Toastmasters meeting!😉

Every baker has their own secret recipe for chocolate chip cookies 🍫. Similarly, every speaker develops their own unique style 🎤.

There is no single perfect recipe for cookies🍪, just as there is no one-size-fits-all way to deliver a speech 🎤. We experiment, practise and craft our very own flavour and voice ✨.

Let’s enjoy wonderful speeches alongside tasty treats!🍪

Yesterday’s Ocean Toastmasters meeting was a meaningful and energizing gathering centered around the theme: “Sharing” which is a powerful human connection. ❤️❤️❤️

As President, Cindy kicked off the meeting by highlighting how sharing allows us to connect, understand, and grow together. At Ocean, we pride ourselves on being great listeners—and we truly love hearing each other’s stories.

Our Game Master, Crystal Cheung⁩, brought a trendy and interactive game, “9 Upper,” which filled the room with laughter and high energy. It was a great reminder of how fun learning can be. 🤩🤩🤩

Cindy also delivered her DTM project speech, sharing her vision, purpose, and journey as President and a Toastmaster. It was a heartfelt reflection on leadership and growth.👣

The Table Topics session was full of variety and thought-provoking questions. Collin⁩, as Table Topics Master, challenged participants to think on their feet and express their ideas creatively.😆😆

We were also honored to have our guest, Victor Yip, VPPR of ALE and Speakers & Beyond, who shared valuable insights on using structured frameworks in Table Topics. His practical tips gave members useful tools to elevate their impromptu speaking.🫡🫡🫡

During the sharing session, members had their moment in the spotlight:

🌟Irene Kwok⁩ introduced her favorite book, The Magic of Public Speaking📚—don’t miss out this book.

🌟Collin⁩ shared about his favorite horror movie😱 Backrooms—the concept is inspired by a famous creepypasta ‘backrooms’ on the internet.👻

🌟Our guest Alson spoke warmly about his favorite person—his wife—which brought a touching and romantic note to the session👩‍❤️‍👨

Crystal Cheung, as evaluator, reminded us that while online meetings have limitations—especially in body language—we can still strive to communicate effectively and improve our presence.🫂

Josie delivered a very detailed Grammarian and Ah-Counter report, helping us reflect on our language use and speaking habits.👏🏻

Even though we met on Zoom, the physical distance did not stop us from building genuine connections. Through sharing, we grew closer as a community.🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
