With the funds you helped us to raise in 2024, we expanded our collaboration with Pokhara based charity Right4Children, where two of our Nepal alumni athletes, Nitu Tamang and Padam Kumari Sunuwar, from the Exchange and Empower Training and Scholarship Program are now full time coaches at Right4Children’s Right2Run program for children in primary and secondary school. Nitu and Padam coaches are blossoming as young leaders and together coach over 400 children ages between 8 and 18 at 12 community schools of Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality each week in running and trail running.
We also expanded our programming in Hong Kong supporting foreign domestic helpers. We hosted community events including a menstrual health workshop and nutrition workshop. We launched the Hong Kong Exchange and Empower Trail Running Scholarship Program where beneficiaries from the foreign domestic helper community participate in a three month comprehensive trail running training program. The six athletes in our first cohort are each supported by mentors who are experienced trail runners in the local community. In addition to receiving a customized running and strength training plan, the athletes are also receiving expert workshops in nutrition, strength training, yoga and race strategy/mindset.
In 2025, we will continue to support and grow our programs in Nepal and Hong Kong. We can’t wait for the year to begin!
