What an eye-opening Saturday morning at the City Gallery!

On 15 August 2026, our participants stepped into the heart of Hong Kong’s planning story — from the city’s transformation over the decades to the bold blueprints for tomorrow. Interactive models, strategic growth visions, transport networks and the “Green Liveable City” exhibition gave everyone a fresh perspective on how engineering, planning and sustainability come together to shape the city we live in.

🚀 From AI Innovation to Future Manufacturing: HKPC Technical Visit Completed Successfully!

On 25 July 2026, members of the IET Hong Kong Younger Members Section (YMS) visited the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) for an inspiring journey into the world of robotics, artificial intelligence, and smart manufacturing.

During the guided tour, participants explored HKPC’s innovation facilities and gained first-hand insights into the practical applications of robotics, AI technologies, smart manufacturing solutions, and Industry 4.0 initiatives. The visit also provided a valuable overview of HKPC’s applied R&D capabilities and its role in supporting industrial innovation, technology adoption, and sustainable transformation across various sectors.
The event provided an excellent opportunity for participants to broaden their understanding of emerging technologies, exchange perspectives with fellow engineers, and appreciate how innovation is shaping the future of manufacturing and engineering in Hong Kong.

We are grateful to HKPC for opening its facilities to our members and showcasing the impactful work being carried out to advance innovation and technology development in Hong Kong. We look forward to continuing to create opportunities for young engineers to gain industry exposure and explore the technologies driving tomorrow’s world.

♻️ Post-Event Recap | Technical Visit to O · PARK 1 🌱

The IET Hong Kong Younger Members Section (YMS) was delighted to host a technical visit to O · PARK 1 on 25 July 2026, bringing together engineering professionals for an insightful exploration of Hong Kong’s flagship organic resources recovery facility.

Participants gained first-hand insights into how food waste is transformed into renewable energy and organic fertilizer through advanced anaerobic digestion technology. The visit also showcased O · PARK 1’s integrated wastewater treatment system and its contribution towards a circular economy and sustainable future.

A special highlight was the Beeswax Wrap Workshop, where participants created their own reusable food wraps and learned practical ways to reduce single-use plastic in daily life.

Beyond the technical learning experience, the event provided a valuable opportunity for networking and exchanging ideas on sustainability, decarbonisation, and the role of engineers in supporting Hong Kong’s carbon neutrality ambitions.

Our sincere thanks to the management and engineering team of O · PARK 1 for their warm hospitality and informative sharing, and to all participants for making this event a success.

The IET Hong Kong Younger Members Section (YMS) is delighted to share that the Young Professionals Exhibition & Competition 2026 (YPEC 2026) was successfully held on 19 July 2026 at Yasumoto International Academic Park (YIA), The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).

This year, YPEC 2026 welcomed 82 teams, over 300 participants, and 32 judges across different competition sections. Under the theme “Empact”, participants presented innovative engineering ideas with the potential to create meaningful real-world impact.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to our co-organiser, the Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD), for their continuous support. We were also honoured to have Mr. Arthur Lee, JP, Acting Director of the EMSD, joining us and supporting the event.

Our heartfelt appreciation also goes to the CUHK Knowledge Transfer Office (CUHK KTO) for their valuable venue support, which made the event possible.

A big thank you to all participants, judges, guests, sponsors, supporting organisations, helpers, OC members, and the YPEC 2026 Organising Team for their dedication and hard work in making the event a great success.

Through YPEC 2026, IET YMS hopes to continue inspiring young engineers to explore, innovate, and create positive impact through engineering.
