Women in Sports Empowered Hong Kong - WISE

WISE (睿動香港) champions sports for women and girls. Through sports, we advance women's and girls' impact. We are a registered charitable institution (IR91/16449).

WISE HK was founded in 2017 to encourage our women and girls to participate in and stay playing sports by promoting the benefits of sports. We aim to empower our women and girls to lead active, meaningful and self-fulfilled lives. Our vision is a world where women and girls can thrive without limitations and we believe sports are a powerful tool for empowerment and support our health and well-bein

We believe women and girls should be able to participate in the sport of their choice and enjoy it throughout their lives so they that can benefit from the physical, mental and social benefits that playing sport can provide, as well as be able to use sports to build, practice and enhance life skills such as resilience, perseverance, communication and more, that will enable us to thrive. We believe that by promoting all sports to women and girls in Hong Kong, by providing more access to sports, by empowering women and girls to take charge and lead in organising and managing sports, we will foster their lifelong participation and enjoyment of and in sports, as well as raise women's leadership in sports. This will translate into achieving higher levels of social-emotional competencies such as emotional and mental resilience, self-esteem and self-awareness, as well as higher levels of life skills attainment, which in turn will translate into higher personal satisfaction, and personal impact in their community economically, participatively and healthily.

Happy International Women’s Day! 🌸💜 This year’s theme, , captures exactly how we view the power of sports. When we give girls and women the resources, safe spaces, and opportunities to play, we all gain a generation of confident, resilient leaders.

At WISE, the playing field is where we share these resources. It is where we Empower, Educate, and Connect young girls and women to redefine what they are capable of. Here is to leveling the playing field and building a stronger community, together. 🤝✨

Team WISE has been running at full speed, successfully delivering over 20 program sessions across three local secondary schools this past month. ⚡️

We use sports to teach transferable life skills like confidence, leadership, and teamwork. By engaging in sports at a young age, our girls aren’t just building physical and mental resilience today—they are actively breaking barriers and setting a foundation of empowerment that will positively compound throughout their lives.

With more schools joining our spring roster, our momentum continues to build. We are excited to carry this energy forward and expand our reach! 🚀

💫Kicking off March with a look back at an incredible community event from late February! WISE was proud to be a supporting organization for the “Central & Western District Boccia Invitational Tournament, celebrating the National Games”. Hosted by the Love Inclusion Charity Association Limited —founded in 2025 by Hong Kong Boccia athlete Ho Yuen-kei —the tournament provided a vibrant platform for individuals of all abilities to compete and connect.

If you aren’t familiar with the game, Boccia is a Paralympic sport that demands precision, focus, and mental toughness. Initially developed for athletes with cerebral palsy, it has grown into a celebrated global discipline that illustrates how sports can break down barriers and create a competitive, yet universally accessible arena. It’s a great reminder that true athletic power comes in many forms—and requires strategic mastery to win! 🔴🔵

We hope you had a beautiful festive week filled with warmth, reunion, and meaningful moments. As we return from the LNY break, we’re carrying the energy from the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2026 with us!

We had the privilege of hosting a workshop for university students at YCCECE last October, teaching the next generation of teachers about the importance of women in sports.

Recently, we were honored to join their partnership lunch to celebrate this collaboration alongside fellow changemakers from NGOs across Hong Kong—all teaming up to make a difference in our community.

We are thrilled to introduce the newest additions to Team WISE! Meet the team behind the mission:

1️⃣ 𝗞𝗶𝘁𝘁𝘆 – 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿🧘‍♀️ Kitty brings a diverse background in gender equality NGOs and project management. She blends her experience with a passion for mindfulness and yoga to support our holistic programs.

2️⃣ 𝗬𝗼𝘆𝗼 – 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿🥋 Yoyo is a former athlete of the Hong Kong Taekwondo team and a passionate coach. She believes sport brings people together and drives positive community change.

3️⃣ 𝗘𝘀𝗵𝗮 – 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 🏐 Esha majors in Psychology and coaches dodgeball. She focuses on mental wellness and teamwork to build supportive environments where resilience thrives.

4️⃣ 𝗘𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆 – 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘀 & 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿🩰 Emily brings over a decade of experience in strategic communications and PR. A certified barre instructor on the side, she leverages her expertise to advance WISE’s mission and amplify our story.

We are grateful to Alan Chu and Dr. Donna Duffy of UNC Greensboro for inviting us to engage in their transformative 12-day study abroad program in Hong Kong in December 2025. This unique opportunity allowed us to explore the rich intersection of sport, psychology, and culture. The visit to our office culminated in an interactive session led by our Founder, Alicia, and Esha from our Programs Team, where we highlighted our mission to provide access to girls in sports.

The students’ exploration of how cultural factors influence sport and performance psychology, combined with their open-mindedness and enthusiasm, truly inspired us. We learned just as much from them as they did from us, reinforcing the essence of collaboration in fostering growth.

Here’s to building bridges and enriching experiences together! 🙌

🎉 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐚𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐚𝐲! 🎉 Yesterday, we got to witness the power of community and sports, as we watched an inspiring group of dedicated individuals run the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon 2026 to raise funds for WISE.

A heartfelt thank you to our amazing runners and the people who supported them by donating to help us empower girls and women across Hong Kong through sports this year.
