Nestled in the heart of Happy Valley, St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery is one of Hong Kong’s oldest and most historically significant burial grounds, rich in both social history and architectural heritage.

▪️Architectural Insights: Architect Kevin Li will open the breakfast session with a brief presentation on the cemetery’s design, layout, and architectural heritage.

▪️Portuguese Heritage: Guest docent Mr. Francisco A. Da Roza will share a fascinating overview of the Portuguese influences woven throughout the site.

▪️Exclusive Access: Enjoy a rare guided walk through the grounds, including restricted access to the century-old chapel, which is normally closed to the public.

▪️Hidden Stories: The intimate tour is to highlight some fascinating stories each of the Portuguese headstone tells. Collectively, they show their distinct culture from Macau, and how the community adapted, evolved and settled into their new home in Hong Kong.

Archi-Walk: Discovering the “Estórias Lusas - The Stories of the Hong Kong Portuguese” Exhibition Guided Tour & Club de Recreio Exclusive Visit 「葡韻流芳·香江尋跡」

We are pleased to invite HKAC Members and friends to an exclusive guided tour of the "Estórias Lusas - Stories of the Hong Kong Portuguese" exhibition at the Hong Kong Museum of History, followed by a private visit and lunch at the historic Club de Recreio 「西洋波會」.

In the mid-19th century, the Portuguese migrated from Macau to Hong Kong, becoming one of the earliest foreign communities to settle in the city. The Hong Kong Museum of History is currently hosting the special exhibition, "Estórias Lusas - Stories of the Hong Kong Portuguese," which features over 250 rare exhibits from Portuguese families and institutions, alongside 30+ interactive multimedia programs. The exhibition offers a vivid retrospective of the Portuguese community's history, daily lives, and profound cultural influence, showcasing their development across diverse sectors and their lasting contributions to Hong Kong’s politics, judiciary, economy, sports, botany, defense, and urban planning.

For this exclusive experience, we are honored to have the exhibition’s guest curator, Mr Francisco da Roza, to guide us and share his in-depth insights. Following the tour, members will enjoy a traditional Portuguese lunch at the Club de Recreio, immersing themselves in the unique heritage of this Grade 3 historic building.

HKAC Members' Exclusive Event - Archi-Preview: "CEDD Civil Engineering Office Community Liaison Centre"

We are pleased to invite HKAC Members to an exclusive tour of the Community Liaison Centre (CLC) for the CEDD's Civil Engineering Office—a pioneering sustainable infrastructure project.

The CLC features themed exhibition areas introducing its work in port, land, and environmental engineering, site formation, filling management, and infrastructure for housing and reclamation. Designed as a circular architecture showcase, the CLC integrates engineered structural bamboo, biochar-enhanced precast concrete panels, and carbon-cured concrete footings. Every design decision prioritizes demountability, adaptability, and material recovery—from reusable steel connections to bio-based composites—setting a new benchmark for circular construction.
