The HKILF is thankful for ongoing collaborative partnerships with organisations like the International Writers’ Workshop (IWW) at Hong Kong Baptist University! 🌟
This past March, across 6 dynamic events, we explored topics from history to literary translation and thriller writing. A huge thank you to IWW for bringing literary talents from around the globe to our Hong Kong reading and writing communities.

A collaboration with the Consulate General of Ireland/Hong Kong & Macau, in celebration of “Bloomsday & Beyond”, we were delighted to welcome author Claire-Louise Bennett who spoke about her novel 𝘉𝘪𝘨 𝘒𝘪𝘴𝘴, 𝘉𝘺𝘦-𝘉𝘺𝘦, one of The New Yorker’s Best Books of 2025. The discussion was moderated by Sadbh O'Reilly, Deputy Consul General of Ireland .Special thanks also to Museum CAFE8 for the lovely venue. Books were provided by Bookazine.

Highlights from our recent event✨

Local designer Billy Potts and artist Pearl Law joined us for the HKDC exhibition, “M. Šašek: This is Hong Kong”, on 13 June at the DX Design Hub. Moderated by HKILF Executive Director Laura Mannering, this conversation delved into the art of archiving illustration.

🔔Next up 4 July: Our second exhibition talk features world-renowned illustration expert Professor Martin Salisbury and Czech illustrator Michal Bačak. Together, we’ll explore the enduring legacy of Šašek’s iconic, colourful city portraits. Don’t miss out!
