Helping Hand 伸手助人協會

Helping Hand 伸手助人協會 伸手助人協會專注提供長者服務的本港注册慈善機構。協會成立於1978年，設立護老院老人之家及長者度假中心，為長者提供康樂活動、日間護理及暫住等服務。

本會轄下院舍照顧逾800位長者，並透過老人度假中心及其他外展支援計劃，每年提供服務予50,000名社區長者與其照顧者。

此外，本會亦於國內廣東省肇慶市興建了一所綜合院舍，成為首間由香港慈善機構在國內營運的大型護老頤養院。此院舍提供收費低廉及申請快捷的養老新選擇，以針對長期輪候政府資助安老宿位長者的需要，更可特別照顧認知障礙症(老年痴呆症)患者。

Over the past two weeks, we were grateful to have three student volunteers supporting our team through office‑based and behind‑the‑scenes volunteering.
They contributed by:
📌 Providing administrative support
📌 Assisting with ideas for marketing and outreach materials
This experience allowed students to gain a practical understanding of NGO operations, while applying their strengths in research, organisational skills and communication beyond the classroom.
✨ We welcome students who are interested in office administration and marketing support to join us as volunteers and gain meaningful real‑world experience.

For over one year, we have been promoting pickleball among our elderly residents — not just as a sport, but as a meaningful journey of learning and growth 🌱.
At the beginning, many struggled to catch the ball. Today, they can rally, enjoy the game and laugh together 😄🎉. Every improvement, no matter how small, marks a step forward.
What matters most is not performance, but the sense of achievement and fulfilment our elderly experience along the way 💪💖 — building confidence, motivation and joy through trying, practising and succeeding together.

Our first Theraband Exercise Class, led by our professional physiotherapist, was filled with energy, smiles, and enthusiasm! 👵🧓✨
With engaging demonstrations and wonderful feedback from our members, the session brought both fun and meaningful movement into their day.
At Helping Hand, we believe that promoting active ageing and keeping our elderly active is the key. 💖
Beyond daily routines, we aim to strengthen physical abilities, boost confidence, and enhance overall wellbeing.
We’re delighted to share that this class will now become a regular in-house activity, held twice a week after lunch. 🗓️🍽️
So that even more members can stay active, connected, and empowered!

Today, on International Nurses Day 🩺, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude 🙏 to all our nurses and frontline care colleagues across our senior homes.
To our dedicated staff members ❤️ — nurses, care workers, therapists, social workers, and supporting teams — thank you for your unwavering commitment, patience, and compassion. Every day, you give more than professional care; you give time ⏰, warmth 🤝, dignity 🌱, and hope ✨ to the frail elderly under our care.
Because of your dedication, we are proud to support approximately 1,000 elderly residents 👵👴 in our care homes, while also providing outreach services to an additional 40,000 elderly community members 🧓. Your contributions enable us to deliver personalised residential care, rehabilitation 💪, and counselling 🧠, and to turn our homes into places of trust, comfort, and belonging 🏡.
It is because of each and every one of you 🌟 that we can continue our mission to help elderly people in Hong Kong live a happy 😊, dignified 🙌, and meaningful life 💖. Your care truly changes lives.

It was truly our pleasure to be invited to introduce Helping Hand and to share the importance of caring for the elderly.
Seeing teenagers show genuine interest in elderly care deeply encourages us. Your curiosity, compassion and support remind us why youth engagement is so important to our work. 🌟 同心展活力．「全港長者硬地滾球比賽」已開始接受報名 💙

10 月 27 日「全港長者硬地滾球比賽」即將舉行，一場充滿活力與歡樂的體育盛事，誠邀全港長者及社區夥伴一同參與！

為推動更多長者安心投入比賽，指導員培訓課程已正式展開。學員們投入學習，導師由硬地滾球的場地要求、擊球技巧，到比賽規則及賽制作全面講解，為支援長者參賽作好準備。課堂氣氛熱烈，充滿互動與正能量！

本活動 由「省善真堂慈善基金」贊助，讓我們得以透過硬地滾球這項安全而具樂趣的運動，鼓勵長者結伴參與，建立自信、鍛鍊身心，並與同伴建立珍貴的友誼與社區連繫。

無論是否有運動經驗，硬地滾球都適合任何長者參與🫶

🌟 United in Strength · Registration Now Open for the 'Hong Kong Boccia Competition for the Elderly' 💙

The Hong Kong Boccia Competition for the Elderly will take place on 27 October, bringing together a sports event filled with energy, joy, and community spirit. Elderly participants and community partners from across Hong Kong are warmly invited to join us!

To ensure more elderly participants can take part with confidence, instructor training classes have officially begun. Participants are actively engaged in learning, while instructors provide comprehensive training — from court requirements and throwing techniques to competition rules and formats — fully preparing them to support elderly players. The classes are lively, highly interactive, and full of positive energy!

This event is sponsored by the Shang Sin Chun Tong Charitable Foundation, making it possible for us to promote boccia as a safe and enjoyable sport that encourages elderly participants to join together, build confidence, strengthen both body and mind, and develop meaningful friendships and community connections.
Boccia is suitable for elderly participants of all abilities, whether or not they have prior sports experience.
