For many underprivileged students in Hong Kong, a lack of resources and exposure often narrows their view of what’s possible, they simply don't know what they don't know. At this year’s Summer Institute, we are happy to have Laura Chong, Executive Director at Dream2Story, and our alumnus Ken So (Fellow 2020-21) shared with our Fellows how cross-sector collaboration can break these boundaries.
Laura highlighted how corporate visits, internships, and mentorship translate career exploration into real-world confidence, turning abstract dreams into tangible pathways. Yet, as Ken reminded us, driving student growth always starts with human connection and a mindset of being "strict yet loving", listening deeply to students' voices while holding them to high standards.
Most importantly, he urged educators to look beyond the classroom walls:
"One person's strength is limited, but a collective team can carry your vision much further."
By bridging schools with corporate partners, NGOs, and community allies, we can build a supportive ecosystem that helps every student discover their worth. ✨
