⎰2025 IVE (MH) x MercyHK x Wegeneration 👷🏼♂️👷🏽♀️♻️⎱
In the first half of 2025, we have coordinated a cross-interdisciplinary project involving two classes of students from❇️ IVE (Morrison Hill) and a dozen of beneficiaries from a local NGO called ❇️, who provides social services for homeless and other needy people in the Yau Tsim Mong district. 💚The goal of this project is to guide students through the journey of upcycling and the output of the journey – upcycled wooden furniture we co-created – are donated to MercyHK’s beneficiaries.
Through a few sessions of woodworking workshops, we used scrap woods and upcycled them into different pieces of furniture (i.e. shoe racks, stools, and step stools) that would be useful for the homes of the beneficiaries. After completing the workshops with finished products, the students had the opportunity to meet the beneficiaries in person at the MercyHK center where they presented the furniture and engaged in meaningful conversations.♻️
This collaboration was a truly meaningful one as we connected two groups of people, creating a great opportunity for both to gain insights on various environmental and social issues. For the students, they came to learn about the real challenges faced by the beneficiaries and through such learning, their developed a higher level of empathy and social awareness. Meanwhile, the beneficiaries had the chance to talk with the young people, learning more about the upcycling and sustainability and how these principles can be incorporated into their everyday lives.💚💚💚

We are very pleased to have demonstrated that sustainability not only can bring about environmental impacts for the environment we live in, but also can create social impacts for our people we live with.
係今年上半年度，我哋統籌咗一個跨界別項目，集合咗香港專業教育學院（摩理臣山）嘅兩班同學，同埋本地慈善機構MercyHK（慈悲香港）嘅十幾位受助者。MercyHK主要為油尖旺區嘅露宿者同其他有需要人士提供社會服務。呢個項目嘅目的係帶領學生體驗升級再造嘅過程，而最終成品——我哋合力製成嘅升級再造木傢俬——捐贈咗俾MercyHK嘅一班受助者。
透過幾節嘅木工工作坊，我哋利用廢棄木材升級再造咗多件適合受助者嘅實用傢俬（例如鞋架、凳仔同踏腳凳）。完成工作坊後，學生們更有機會親身到MercyHK中心同受助者見面，親手送上傢俬之如，並作對話交流。
今次嘅合作嘅特殊意義在於我哋連繫咗兩個群體，創造咗一個難得嘅機會俾佢地去認識不同嘅環境同社會議題。對學生嚟講，透過親身了解受助者面對嘅真實困難，令佢哋培養出同理心同社會意識。而受助者趁呢個同年輕人交流嘅機會，認識咗更多關於升級再造同可持續發展嘅概念，亦學到點樣將呢啲理念融入自己嘅日常生活當中。
我哋非常感謝香港專業教育學院（摩理臣山）發起呢個項目，亦感激MercyHK嘅協助，令呢個咁有意義嘅項目得以實現！透過今次項目，我哋實證咗可持續發展唔單只只係為環保，更可以創造不同嘅社會價值，令唔同嘅群體受惠。
